Luke 12:4-5 “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.
Hell …also known as Hades is a place where those who have not repented of their sins, believed and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior will go after they die. It’s a place of horrible torment, misery and torture.
Many people don’t believe Hell is real…but I tell you… I do because Jesus Himself spoke a lot about it when He was on earth. It‘s in the bible and the bible is very clear about what it is, where it is and who’s going there. Please take some time to do a bible study on Hell….You need to know this information.
Why do I need to know this? Well if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior then you need to understand about hell because there is a very good chance Hell will someday be your permanent home. If you are a Christian…you are not going to want any of your family, friends or acquaintances to go there.
Last Friday I heard the end of a speaker on a radio program talking about what he saw in hell. His description was so horrible that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. Why? Because I don’t want anybody to go there. This is my daily prayer!
I think people are very comfortable in this life and they are not thinking about where their soul is going to be forever and ever. Many people don’t believe there is a place called Hell. Many people believe everybody will go to heaven if you die especially if you think you are a good person. These thoughts do not line up with what the bible says. You who believe this may think I’m wrong…but what if I’m not…what if everything you heard about what the bible says about Hell is true? Why would you want to risk eternally living in the worst possible conditions forever without really exploring the possibility of the truth of God’s word? You don’t get another chance after you die.
Luke 16:27-28 He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ Please get a bible and read this whole story that Jesus told when He was on earth about a rich man who died and went to hell…it was too late for him but he wanted someone to speak to his 5 living brothers. Jesus is trying to tell us a very important lesson here.
We Christians must be brave and tell people about Hell. It’s not an easy subject to speak to someone about…but after hearing that speaker’s description of hell… I’m more determined to speak up even more…and share not only the good news…But the bad news…if they don’t accept the good news.
I think it time for some fire and brimstone witnessing…but not done in a… beat you over the head with the gospel kind of thing…but giving people the facts in a presentation that shares the love of Jesus as well as the fear of the Lord.
Message for today: Heaven or Hell…what is in your future?

Tanya, Thank you so much for your article and especially for your answer to Julia Walsh. I, too, untill just now, always had a problem reconciling God’s love with His wrath; the fact that I should love Him with the fact that I should fear Him. Know part of my problem was attributing human charaterestics to God . . .I looked at Him through the eyes of a child looking at a human parent and that made Him very scary in a bad way. Human parents aren’t always trust worthy as far as love goes. God is trust worthy, His love is a real love, one we can really and truly trust and that makes it safe to be afraid of Him . . . . .He will not misuse the power over us He has . . . . . He is fair and He is just therefore fearing the Lord is a good and safe thing to do. It is being able to have a good, safe fear of the power of the Lord God because we know He and His love are perfect. Then because we fear Him, we will obey HIm and therefore the enemy will be unable to use the fact we don’t fear the Lord as a way of making us do sinful things.
Thank you Tanya, for helping me make sense of all this and feel even more safe and comfortable in God’s precious love and also being safefully afraid of angering Him. Hope this has made sense to you and to others who read this.
I know we need to fear and obey the Lord because of His power over our life, death and our eternity and because of HIs perfect love which means He will be fair even in His wrath. Praise His Holy name!!

It’s sometimes a hard thing to understand the fear of the Lord and letting people know about hell. But the understanding leads to our growth in the Lord. I’m so glad the blog could be of help to you. Every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…He is worthy of all praise for sure.

How does fear help us to freely chose Christ, love and the gospel? Sure, there’s consequences for not doing God’s will. But, I want to think that God has the power more than me and my redemption is not a result of anything that I do- it’s all God’s goodness. I am just a poor, worthless nothing without God. God is everything. Love sets me free, not fear or death. The freedom I have found in the love of God takes away all my fear. God is good, we can rejoice and as Jesus tells us “Fear not!”

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.
Psalms 103:13As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,
Fear is a good thing. The fear of the Lord is having total respect the authority of our power Almighty God.
When one of my daughters was little, she told me “mommy I’m scared of you”. After reassuring her that I loved her… I told her that was good because I’m scared of God and that’s a good thing. People who don’t have some type of fear of authority get themselves in lots of trouble because the enemy will use the lack of fear to draw people into doing sinful things. I know God loves me so much, but I also know not to tick Him off.
When Jesus was here on earth preaching…He spoke more about Hell than heaven. He was sent here to do the will of the Father and told people what God wanted them to know. Hell was one of those things.
I thank you for your response and let’s pray for this world to know the love of the Lord so that they will not have to experience the wrath of God.
God bless you my sister!
