1 Samuel 1:12-16 As she kept on praying to the Lord, Eli observed her mouth. 13Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk 14and said to her, “How long will you keep on getting drunk? Get rid of your wine.”

15“Not so, my lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord. 16Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.”

After not being able to have a baby…Hannah was very very stressed out and deeply grieved in her spirit.  I have been in this exact same place for the same reason and have prayed in this way.  God heard  Hannah’s and my prayer… and Hannah’s answered prayer was named Samuel …and my answered prayer is named Crystal.  I prayed this prayer again after having 3 girls because  I was barren again for several years and I wanted a son.  I prayed like Hannah for 5 years.  My other answered prayer is named…Joshua.

I have prayed the drunken woman prayer many times for various reasons.  It’s a very difficult prayer to pray.  It’s physically taxing to the body and grief-stricken to ones spirit.  It’s a prayer that draws God to your side and causes Him to put His arm around you because only He can comfort you enough to stop you from crying and not succumb to your grief and anguish.

Abba Father

I tell you…when you are so grieved all you want is your mommy or daddy. When my children were in pain they only wanted their mommy.   When I’m grieved….Just give me my daddy….my Abba Father!  No one else can help me….no one else can console me like He can.

Whitney Houston sang a beautiful song and I would like to share the words here:

As I lay me down
Heaven hear me now
I’m lost without a cause
After giving it my all

Winter storms have come
And darkened my sun
After all that I’ve been through
Who on earth can I turn to?

I look to you
I look to you
After all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

About to lose my breath
There’s no more fighting left
Sinking to rise no more
Searching for that open door

And every road that I’ve taken
Led to my regret
And I don’t know if I’m gonna make it
Nothing to do but lift my head

I look to you
I look to you
And when all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

My levee’s have broken, my walls have come
Crumbling down on me
The rain is falling, defeat is calling
I need you to set me free

Take me far away from the battle
I need you, shine on me

I look to you
I look to you
After all my strength has gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

I look to you
I look to you

I found this rendition for you.  It’s so moving and has a great testimony too:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP2IzErAQPs

Message for today:  Go ahead get drunk girl…Go ahead and get drunk guy….not with real wine and liquor but in the Holy Spirit with sincere prayer from the depths of your heart and I tell you….God will surely hear your cry and answer you.  Your Father God loves you!  Pray…Pray like crazy…pray as if you’re drunk…let go and let it all out before God.

(Saying: We had  this saying in our prayer group…Prayer ain’t prayer until the snot starts rollin’!)  Let is roll baby…let it roll!  I know…just keepin’ it real.  Graffic as this may be…It’s the truth when it comes to deep anguish prayer.

Disclaimer:  Ya’ll do this in private…OK?  There are many Eli’s around!  If you have to pray like this in your car…pull over….I have!
