God Speaks I Listen

2 weeks ago I listened to a man on Facebook who said that he was a pastor and now he’s an atheist. His Facebook post was so upsetting to me because I know that nothing can separate me from God if I was truly a Christian so what about this former pastor?  This former pastor expressed how the whole bible was a lie and that there is no God and he said it very convincingly. He said he lost his friends and that he got suspended from his job after he posted his video on Facebook. This scripture came to mind after I looked at his video.

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

 Ephesians 3:19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

In my opinion these scriptures tell me that because I chose to believe in Jesus that I will always be good with God because nothing can remove me from God and because I’m assured of His love for me and that I will be filled with the fullness of God. This is powerful! If these 2 scriptures are my assurance then if something happens to cause me to think otherwise then I must not have been truly saved. Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Anyone can confess with their mouth but the real question is what’s in one’s heart?

There were many other people on Facebook who also shared their stories about how they realized that there’s no God. The devil was buzzing around my mind saying “see there is no God”. I had to run a checklist in my mind about why I believe in God.  Not because my faith is weak…but because I tell you the devil NEVER stops trying to convince us that God is not real and the bible is a lie. It’s his job to do this!  The treatment for dealing with the devil’s harassment is: James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The greatest reasons that I believe God is real is:

1. I feel His love for me. It has taken me years to feel this because for a large portion of my life I felt nobody loved me so I tried many times to kill myself. But over time I got to a point of knowing that God really loves me and then I started loving myself. This realization also helped me to love others. I know that God loves me because over the years God has done so many things in my life that has been so amazing. The Holy Spirit has also been a very large part of me experiencing the love of God.
2. I’ve seen so many miracles happen in my personal life….to many to list them all so I’ve picked just two. The first miracle is that of my daughter being apparently stillborn and after many minutes of no life signs my solid blue looking baby girl was brought back to life. The second huge miracle was my son who was born with cerebral palsy after a massive brain bleed and was diagnosed to never walk and talk was given such a miracle that we are all still shocked and thankful to God all the time for this unbelievably great miracle. My son couldn’t hold his head up, walk or do anything. God had told me not to pursue my lawsuit and that He was going to give me a miracle. This is the very condensed version. Over a period of many years he finally walked, talked, had his leg braces removed, went to regular school, then college, graduated top of his class, has a great job and lives on his own!! Don’t tell me God’s not real!
3. I’ve had many visions. I’ve had only one vision with my eyes open and hundreds of other visions over 25 years. It has been an amazing journey with God. Most of my visions have been to bless other people and it’s something that God choses to give me at His time and choosing. I can’t make myself get any visions or messages.
4. The complexity of the existence of everything, such as the human body, planets, species of flowers, plants and animals.
5. Bible information lining up with historical evidence.
6. My spirits own natural instinct that there is more to this life.
7. Jesus sacrificing His life for me. No other god has done that for their people.
8. I’ve read the bible and I truly believe what it says because of the Holy Spirits presence in me confirms this information directly to me. (Note: The bible is a mystery to non-believers because of the lack of the presence of God inside of them.)
9. I operate in a gift of the word of knowledge found in 1 Corinthians 12:8. I get a word or vision and I draw or write down what I get and write a message for someone on a piece of paper. It’s always a message of encouragement or how they can get to the next level in the Lord. Sometime it may say where they’ve been or it may reveal where they are heading. I’ve heard over and over again that I had no idea of what they were going through and needed that word. I never do this on my own but only when led of the Lord. I’ve been doing this for 30 years now and I’m still amazed after all these years because it keeps showing me the reality of God!!!!
10. This reason is a really big one for me! In 1984 when my husband and I became committed Christians we were not use to being Pentecostal. We came from Catholic and Lutheran backgrounds and didn’t know anything about getting a word or message from someone. A woman came to speak at the church we were now attending and she preached and after she finished she started praying over people and saying things to them. After she spoke to some of them they would start crying. This was all very strange to me. My husband was at the opposite end of the altar from me and this woman spoke to him and told him something that I know she had no knowledge of and I was Shocked!!! As she slowly made her way towards me I felt fear and excitement at the same time. When she got to me she also told me something that I was experiencing that she couldn’t have known. I was again shocked!!! I felt at the moment the total realness of God. This woman had never seen me and my husband in our life and she couldn’t have known the very personal spiritual things we were going through. After this experience my husband and I dove straight into ministry with total confidence and we have never stopped serving God in over 33 years!!!
11. Fulfilled bible prophecies.
12. I speak in tongues. When we become a Christian the Holy Spirit came to live in our bodies. 1 Corinthians 3:16. But I tell you when I was filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues I was SHOCKED. I grew up Lutheran and we didn’t do that. Ok… some people say it’s just gibberish, but it wasn’t until someone heard me praying at a prayer meeting to myself and the overheard me that they told me they recognized the language as an old form of Chinse mandarin that I was again shocked.

Most people have searched for meaning in their lives like why they are here. Many chose to believe that there is nothing to life and you live and then you just die. Many believe there is no God at all. And yet some believe there’s a god in heaven and everybody gets to go there no matter how they lived their lives. I’ve learned that everyone has their own choice in what they chose to believe.

Am I on a mission to change peoples’ minds? Well yeah. Why? Because of the reasons why I believe listed above and because I genuinely care about where everyone is going to wind up eternally. Hebrews 9:27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment…

 I don’t know everything and don’t claim to be a God expert…but from my own life experiences I have learned enough about God for me to be assured that for me God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are very real.
