The Fullness of God…What’s that?

I wrote this a while ago but I feel we need to know or be reminded of the blessing we have through Jesus Christ.

God Speaks I Listen

Ephesians 3:19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of allthe fullness of God.

Today I feel led to blog on the fullness of God.  This is a very big topic and I don’t know how much I can bring to the table because I don’t have a degree in theology… but I will try to share what I can.

It’s very hard to put the meaning of the fullness of God into words because of our limited ability to take in all of God’s majesty or His supreme-ness.  Jesus has all of the fullness of God in Him.

Colossians 2:9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,

(Deity –  divine character or nature of a Supreme Being; divinity.)

Colossians 1:19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,      JESUS!

Hebrews 1:8 is one…

Marshmallow Peeps and the Gospel

Enjoy this blog I posted a few years ago about Resurrection Day.

God Speaks I Listen

Well those little cute candy birds have been around for the Easter season from the year after I was born in 1952 and I have consumed a lot of those tasty diabetic induced candies in the past LOL!   There have been many Easter traditions that I’ve shared with my family as a child.   I continued these traditions with my own family until I became a committed Christian and realized the true meaning of Resurrection day.  We still provided our children with Easter candy… but as a table setting decoration and not baskets, Easter egg hunts and toys.

Marshmallow Peeps has nothing to do with the Gospel and I guess this statement is not a surprise to you.  Is it ok to still eat them?  Yup!  Is it ok to have all the other Easter candy and things?   I think so… but maybe after church at your  family gathering and dinner.  I don’t…

Witnessing…Why Do That?

My pamphlet hand

The definition of witness is:

Attesting to a fact, a person who gives evidence of something specific, one who testifies, one who has personal knowledge of something, and to give public affirmation.

To witness for the Lord is to tell others these POWERFUL bible scriptures:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Matthew 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

  1. You should tell others that God loves you and gave up His only Son for you so you can have eternal life.
  2. That you have sin in your life and fall way short of God’s glory and holiness.
  3. That you need to be real sorry and repent of your sin.
  4. That Jesus was born of a virgin mother, died, was buried and rose again from the dead for you.
  5. You need to declare this and believe in Jesus Christ so you can have eternal life.

witnessing 3

This is the bible basics of our faith. These are the things that Jesus and the disciples testified about. If these few scriptures were all you knew about your faith (and I hope this is not the case) and you went out and preached these scriptures you could turn this world upside down. We should be doing this! But are we?

Witnessing is testifying about what God has done for you and you telling others about the remarkable facts of salvation.

Why should we do this?

How should we do this?

The why..…The #1 reason is….  BECAUSE THE LORD ASKED US TO IN HIS WORD!!!!!!

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (This is God’s will for our lives)witnessing 2

God doesn’t need us to work for Him but He is giving us an opportunity to serve Him for our benefit as well as for others. He could’ve taken us home right after salvation but God chose to use us to bless others with the same opportunity that was afforded us.

The how….How requires 2 separate parts.

1. The first part of this answer is with the power of the Holy Spirit. He’s at the forefront of witnessing because He is the one who has already been speaking to that person’s heart to convict them of their sin and to accept Jesus. So depending on where that person is at in the process of seeking answers in their life is where you fit in. They may be ripe for the pickings or they might be at the beginning of the surrendering process. You have no way of knowing so just be available to the Lord.

2. The second part is that we should have a plan on how we will witness or testify of the Lords goodness and plan of salvation for their life.

There are many ways to do this such as:

  1. Straight up approaching someone directly and doing a one on one approach.
  2. Going out with an evangelistic group and doing things like street ministry.
  3. Casually using a friendship or relationship that you have with someone to get close enough with them until the Holy Spirit leads you to talk about the good news of the Gospel.
  4. Committing to praying for a person’s salvation.
  5. Using tracts

All Christians should have a plan to be a witness for the Lord. It’s not an easy thing to do in today’s world but there is a way and we must be ready and prepared. We must work in cooperation with the Holy Spirit. We should know the basic reason for our faith. We should be prayerful. We should be bold but not pushy.

I use to have a great deal of fear about witnessing but now I’m not fearful anymore. When I think about the eternal future of my fellow-man I feel I great compassion. Now that I’m older and see my time quickly passing, I want to spend the rest of my life making a difference in others’ lives so that they can have a chance for eternal life. So I figured out the witnessing style that works best for me and I have tried to perfect it. Allow me to share the way I approach sharing my faith with others.

My pamphlet

This is my pamphlet

I call my way…”The Pamphlet”

Many years ago my way of witnessing was to wear my “I love Jesus button” every single time I stepped out my house.  I had religious stickers on the bumper of my car. I was also armed with gospel tracts that I bought from a Christian bookstore. I did this for many years until one day the Lord told me not to use those things anymore. It’s not that there was anything wrong with them. The Lord said it was time for me to let my light shine. It was time for me to speak up about my faith. I was like…”YOU WANT ME TO DO WHAT GOD?” I felt like God pushed me into a crowd of people and said go for it. I did tell God that I was available so I happily obliged Him.   I did street witnessing with another church member every Saturday for a year. That was real nerve-wracking, but the more I did it the better I got. I gave out a lot of pre-made gospel tracks but I felt it wasn’t my story so I wrote my own personal story about my life and how I became a Christian. My wonderful husband made it into a pamphlet for me.witnessing 6

So what I do is I strike up a conversation with anybody about anything like the weather or that I like their handbag. When I finish talking I say this…” I’ve been through a lot and this is my story”. They take my pamphlet and say thank you. This works every time!!! I’ve given out 2,500 pamphlets and I just purchased a new box of 1,000 more. I leave them in stores and waiting rooms and I put them on bulletin boards… just everywhere I can. I’ve written a few different ones like one on my battle with depression and suicide and how God healed me.witnessing

Everyone has a story and there’s nobody better to tell it than you! You should testify of God’s goodness of how He got you though that hard time and the story of your salvation. This could be your way of being a witness for the Lord. Will you take some steps to prepare yourself to be a better witness?  Will you think about it and write your story or do any other thing to spread the gospel?

What kind of Christian are you?

What Kind of Christian are you?

A. I Repented and believed in Jesus Christ?

B. I Repented, believed and became a committed Christian.

This is my own personal thoughts because it’s what happened in my life.

I was introduced to God by my parents and my basic knowledge of God came from attending Sunday school. My earliest memory of that was singing “I will make you fishers of men.” I was about 5 years old. I had wonderful times at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Old Westbury NY. One day when I was about 12 I was watching Billy Graham on TV, I clearly remember crying and saying the prayer of salvation at the end of his show. I believe with all of my heart that I truly got saved that day. (Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.) I believe that if I died at that time I would have gone to heaven. I truly believed in the death and resurrection of Jesus BUT…I did not do anything more with my faith except believe. I didn’t serve God or follow 95% of things in the bible at all. I prayed very rarely.

When I married my husband James Nemley we had religious wedding invitations. God was somewhere there but we rarely went to church. We suffered a lot of very difficult trials which led us to finally seek the Lord. A Local church evangelized our neighborhood and we went from being Catholic and Lutheran to joining a Pentecostal church. My husband and I experience God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit like never before. We repented of any sins in our lives and Jesus washed us clean and gave us and enormous amount of peace! We were so changed that everyone noticed.

This is the point my husband and I COMITTED OURSELVES to the Lord! This means:

  1. We put God first before anything in our lives. He is our MAIN focus!!
  2. We Love God like crazy!!!!!!!
  3. We listen to the instructions and council of the Holy Spirit.
  4. We read and study the Holy Bible and OBEY the word of God.
  5. We are involved in ministry.
  6. We shared our faith.
  7. We involve our whole mind, body, soul and spirit in a very deep relationship with Father God.
  8. We give ourselves as a living sacrifice to Father God.
  9. We attended church and bible study regularly
  10. We submit ourselves to God and His purpose for our lives.
  11. We resist doing sinful things and repent when we’ve missed the mark.
  12. We happily give God our time, talent and money.
  13. We talk to God a lot.

This happened in 1984 and in the 33 years of our commitment to Father God we have never stopped doing any of the 13 things on this list.

I believe that after I accepted Jesus at 12 that had I lived a backslidden life for all those years.

Jeremiah 3:14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

To be backslidden means: to start doing something bad again after you have stopped it, to relapse, to fall of the wagon, to fall back into ones sinful ways and when a person turns from God to pursue their own desires.

I feel that knowing that I truly believe in the Lord and that I confessed with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord and Savior that I will never be separated from God.   I may be influenced to do bad things but that is something that the blood Jesus shed for me is there for….Repentance.

Romans 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is how I see being saved verses being a committed Christian:

You get all dressed up for Resurrection day…some call Easter and you’re looking all beautiful. You got your hair all done, you’ve got on new shoes and a beautiful outfit. You know that you are looking good. The next day you have on the same outfit. You still look good. Now you’ve had that same outfit on for a week and you look kind of bad. It’s been a month and you’re starting to stink and look real dirty. You still have that same outfit on but it’s soiled now. That’s the way our new faith in Christ looks when we wear it without the cleaning it.   We must be spiritually sanctified.

Ephesians 4:22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

This can be accomplished if you pray this: Psalms 51:7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. This is how you can get that new looking outfit that I spoke about with the Resurrection day/Easter clothes. Jesus blood is the detergent! Then your garments will look clean all the time.

Some variations of committed and backslidden are: (FYI)

  1. Fake Christians…Faux salvation with the lips only and no heart confession!
  2. Luke warm Christians…Sometimey Christians or Laodicean Christians. They are lukewarm…neither hot nor cold. In and out of Church. Not really doing anything for the Lord because they feel they impressed God when they got saved so they’ll slide through life until the end.

The year before I became a committed Christian God had just healed me completely from suicide attempts and severe depression. I was finally free of this bondage that I had been under for most of my life. I now had the greatest gift which is to be HAPPY in Jesus!!! I had peace of mind!!! But I was still under some spiritual bondage until God led me to a church. I not only became a member but I submitted totally to God’s authority. Every Sunday I was at the altar at the end of the service and God did a very deep work in me. I was a new person and I had a new mindset.

I personally became committed to the Lord when God did these 5 things for me:

  1. Healed me internally of all past guilt, hurt and shame.
  2. Gave me peace like I never had before.
  3. Let me feel His love supernaturally.
  4. Made His word alive in me.
  5. Filled me the Holy Spirit.

These may only be 5 things but internally they went very deep into my spirit man and accomplish a miracle in my life. I knew that I was a different person and that I was God’s child. It was an amazing transformation. This is why I am very passionate and serious about my walk with God.

I hope my experience has bought some clarity to you. I pray that you would give yourself a spiritual check-up and determine what kind of Christian are you. We are all going to transition to somewhere when our time here on earth is up. We will all have to face God and deal with our actions. It’s wise to make some adjustments now while you have a chance to repent and get things right and in order.

The transformation to being a committed Christian does produce fruit. You will naturally be:

  1. More obedient.
  2. More prayerful
  3. Worship and pray to God more.
  4. Do some kind of ministry.
  5. Share the gospel.
  6. Exhibit the fruit of the spirit.
  7. You will be a light to the world.

You will be so hungry for more of God!!!!! (As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. Psalm 42:1) This is how you’ll know if you’re truly fully committed!

I’ve shared my story and my experiences but here are a few scriptures about being committed to the Lord:

Psalms 37:5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:

Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Job 11:13-14 “So commit yourself to God completely. Reach out your hands to him for help. 14 Get rid of all of the sin you have. Don’t let anything that is evil stay in your tent.

James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Luke 6:46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?

John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commands.

Proverbs 3:6 In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.

Are we listening to the Holy Spirit?  The 3rd person of the trinity is inside of us.  Coaching us and instructing us.  We don’t see Him in us or physically feel Him, but He’s there 24/7.  It’s very easy to forget about Him and to succumb to our fleshly own advice and temptations.  Let’s do ourselves a favor and take this moment to acknowledge His presence in our bodies.  Let’s obey His gentle leadings.

John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Horoscopes & mediums DON’T do it!!!!

Last week I was approached in a store by a woman who told me she does readings and she handed me a business card which showed she does a few things including tarot card readings. I looked at her deep in her eyes and told her God doesn’t like that and it says not to do that in the bible. She said she believes in God and she doesn’t do witchcraft. I again told her that what she is doing is wrong and she needs to stop doing it. So I gave her back her card and we parted ways. She avoided me for the rest of my time in the store. I’ve been praying for her every day. I’ve had many encounters like this and told them all the same thing. One spiritualist told me this is how their family makes a living. Many of these people go to church.

Please read the following scriptures and then I will share my thoughts:

Deuteronomy 18:10-11   Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord;

Acts16:16-19   Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a female slave who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. 17 She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” 18 She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her. 19 When her owners realized that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to face the authorities.

Micah 5:12 I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.

It doesn’t get any clearer than that! The bible is God’s word and commands to us all and there is no getting around it!

People are always asking me what is my sign and I always respond…”the sign of the cross.” They get annoyed when I say that.

Let me break it down….

  1. Communicating with the dead or consulting mediums
  2. Palm reading
  3. Tarot cards readings
  4. Following horoscopes or signs of the Zodiac
  5. Predicting the future or psychics and fortune-telling
  6. Performing any type of witchcraft
  7. Divination or the occult
  8. Superstition and spells
  9. New age… outer body, new world order, channeling, yoga, reincarnation, crystal power, creating your own reality, holistic, meditation, visualization, god is in everything, relativism, pure harmony and unity.

Leviticus 19:31 ‘Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.

Isaiah 8:19 When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?

Knowing God the way I do I know …. He gets really ticked off when anyone including His very own children do this!!!! It is SIN!  God is holy and these practices are unholy. Unholiness is sin every day of the week! Don’t be fooled into thinking that it’s ok. The devil wants you to be separated from God and he’s real sneaky in getting you to think this stuff is a harmless form of entertainment.

I know you may miss your loved one and my heart truly goes out to you. They are not going to be sending you any messages. Do not seek out these mediums,  instead ask God for the grace you need to get through your heartache. He will give it to you!

Don’t ask anyone about your future. Only God has this information and if you need direction read your bible or ask God directly. You will get an answer!

If you’re involved in new age, witchcraft or any form of the occult this is your future: Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Why the heck would you want this for yourself and your children? Many children and teens cartoons and TV shows contain witchcraft! He devil is fooling you! Let’s not be ignorant of the devil evil schemes. The devil hated all human before the earth was made and devised a plan to yank you from God. He was jealous that God was planning to redeem you and adopt you into His family and make you His very own child. satan is doing everything he can to get us to turn our backs on God so that we will be cut off from Him.

Do this:

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 1 Peter 5:8-9.

We need to be alert:

in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes. 2 Corinthians 2:11

We are all responsible for what we get into our soul, mind and spirit. Don’t mess with ANYTHING that is occultish. Stick with the information and instructions that God has given us to follow in His word. That is safe and profitable for our soul!

*****John 16: 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.*****

“The Holy Spirit will tell you what is yet to come!!!!!!!!!”

P.S. If you are doing these things I strongly suggest that you renounce any allegiance to these things and repent…Jesus will forgive you! James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

“There is nothing God doesn’t know about your life. You may know the past and present, but God also knows the future. Choose today to walk securely – not in what you know, but in what you believe.  David Jeremiah”

I stole something

Exodus 20:15 “You shall not steal.

This is the 8th commandment.sin-1

I am ashamed to publicly admit this but I feel the Lord is telling me to share this. I use an artificial sweetener called Splenda. I always carry extra. I went to my local coffee shop and I fixed my coffee with sin-2all my fixings… milk and Splenda but I took a few extra Splenda just in case I needed some in the future. I felt that I shouldn’t have at the time but did it anyway. It haunted me and I knew I needed to ask Jesus to forgive me. I did repent. I also forgave myself and had to let go of it. I want to be perfect for my Father God and me giving Him less is so upsetting to me.

Paul wrote about this in detail in the book of Romans.  Please read all of this:

Romans 7:14-25 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

I wanted to blog about these scriptures for some time now now but I didn’t expect to give a real life example. Although Jesus took away our original sin…we Christians still have a sin nature. We will NOT reach perfection until we die and go to heaven. Because of Jesus sacrifice on the cross, we can ask Him for forgiveness right now and He WILL forgive us when we sin. Sometimes we can think we are so good down here on earth. We pray, go to church, help others but we still sin. Some sins are obvious like what I did and others are much more subtle. Sin can be removed but we must own up to it and repent.sin-3

The Holy Spirit in us helps us by bringing Gods word to our memory and the truth of that word cuts into us and pierces our consciousness which should cause us to repent. I don’t need unrepented sin in my life. It can block my prayers to God or cause God to fix that problem in a way I don’t really like. (I.E – a possible trial )

It took me 2 weeks to try to write this blog because who in the world would want to publically confess sin. But I want people to know that just because I love the Lord so much and write about Him so much doesn’t mean I’ve arrived and I’m super spiritual. I’m trying to make it like everyone else. People can hold you up on a pedestal or you can get up there yourself but I need to keep it real and be humble at all times no matter what.

My prayer for today:

Dear Father,

Psalms 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

Psalm 51:7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

I ask this in Jesus name….Amen
