The mystery of the Holiness of God

Exodus 15:11 Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you– majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?

I have been obsessed with the Holiness of God for this past year. I feel in my heart that until we try to understand as best as we can about the Holiness of God….we don’t get who God is and what our lives are really about. When Moses met God in the desert…God presented Himself as a burning bush to him. Moses had to take his shoes off because the bush and the area around the bush were so holy that it was disrespectful for Moses to even walk in that area with his shoes on. When God wants to show you who He is… He will show you His glory which I feel is the essence of His Holiness. When Adam and Eve sinned and God came down here to deal with them….He clothed them with animal skins and I believe they didn’t see a manifestation of God’s glorious nature. Why? Because they didn’t honor Him with obedience and holiness. They had sinned and needed a blood sacrifice. They were so disobedient that they were in no place to receive the blessing of experiencing holiness and glory of God.

Moses needed to understand the Holiness of God because He was going to do mighty things for God in the future and he had favor. In order to have on ongoing and intimate relationship with God….you must understand His Holiness.

My meaning of the Holiness of God…. There is only one God because He is so unique that there is no other living perfect and holy being anywhere. He is the…I Am! He just… Is! He has no beginning and He has no end. God has no impure thoughts of any kind, no sinful actions, having an unexplainable purity that is so unexplainable that it is a total mystery to every human. God is separate from all mankind or any kind of being anywhere… in the past, now and forever. This kind of holiness is so unique that even the nature of God’s physical appearance is pure light… brighter than anything know to exist. He’s supernatural purity that requires preparation just to be in the presence of one so holy. This kind of holiness makes everything else without holy cleansing very filthy, dirty and utterly sinful. Mankind can never fully comprehend this kind of supernatural and powerful state of perfection. In all this explanation…it is still impossible to explain the mystery of God’s holiness…but the Holy Spirit will help you to be holy if you allow Him to do what He knows what to do in you. He will use the word of God to do this in your life. God’s holiness is truly incomprehensible to the unsaved and partly compensable to Christians.

When I think of God’s Holiness…it represents to me who God is and why my relationship with Him depended on what Jesus Christ accomplished for me on the cross. I’m nowhere in God’s league except that I was made in His image. My heart and soul were far away from God until Jesus came along and saved me. I have the third person of the trinity living in me right now… but even so… that is not enough for me to be in God’s presence now. I still sin and need forgiveness. I’m not pure enough to be in God’s presence in my present body. I will one day be able to be in God’s presence because Jesus made it possible for me to be presented ” faultless” before God and I WILL be able to stand before Him in all of His Glory, power ,majesty and……Holiness. Halleluiah!!!!!

God’s Holiness is so mysterious that there really is no way for me to grasp the entire concept of it. I would not be able to function in this life if I fully understood it, because I would be ridden with guilt and fear from my sinful filthy heart. I am functioning now only because of Jesus and the Holy Spirit and because of the fact that I can feel Gods love for me. If it wasn’t for Jesus….my human life would be a crushing issue. It is a fact that I must deal with my actions but the truth is… in light of God’s Holiness… I know I must allow the Holy Spirit to help me balance my human nature and keep clean enough to live a righteous life here on earth.

I think about who God is all the time. I try to look beyond the word God in my mind to see who He really is. By that I mean that there is the time about God before He created earth which is His eternal existence and His perfect holy nature. When I look past creation in that way… it is frightening to me because God’s a mysterious super powerful pure being. In the scope of my little mind…it’s amazing that there is something so out of my scope of earthly and human knowledge.

I live in a dim lit world and He is…bright…light…perfection…extremely powerful…and without one bad though or deed, he’s sinless and pure. These words I used are really insulting to use about Him because they don’t come close to who He is and what His Holiness encompasses. If I really could comprehend this…I would never want to do anything that would go against His nature. I do though. I feel bad about it but I have forgiveness now because of Jesus and I know I will one day wear a white blood-washed robe. I know that I’m truly blessed to be this magnificent God’s child.

If people understood about the Holiness of God… the first thing they would do would be to cry out for….mercy for their souls. The next thing they would do is to stop using His name so flippantly. This is what I did when I became a committed Christian. I was soooo sorry for everything I ever did wrong. I only use God’s name with the utmost respect now! God’s Holiness shines bright in light of my ungodly human nature.

Because of the mystery of the Holiness of God…the world acts like they act because they don’t get God. They don’t get Him at all. Even people who say that they are Christians and still do lots of hurtful things to others…don’t get the Holiness of God. You can’t get God and still act really ugly or unholy. Our Father is….Holy….Jesus is ….Holy….and the third person in this Godhead is….The HOLY Spirit We must try to be like them….holy.

What can we do to understand the Holiness of God? Well… the first thing is to read as much as possible what the bible says about God and what He requires of us. Talk to God a lot. Look around you…go outside…look up at the heavens and you will see how incredible God is. My best advice is to meditate on who God is. Ask God to help you to get the concept of His Holiness. You won’t understand it in His realm…but He will help you to get it like He did Moses. I doubt whether you’ll see a burning bush…but God has ways of getting knowledge to you because of the Holy Spirit. Even if you are NOT a Christian…God can and does communicate with you though the Holy Spirit trying to tell you truth either in your mind and or sending someone to speak to you.

The mystery of The Holiness of God is something that is needed to be thought about… daily. We may not understand it all… but if we want to have an outpouring Of God….If we want a revival…if we want God’s blessing… then we need to be thinking about…”THE HOLINESS OF OUR GOD”.

I’m in AWE of His greatness and Holiness!!!!

Exodus 15:11 Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you– majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?

For the past 2 weeks I’ve had the Holiness of God on my mind and in my heart from the time I get up in the morning until I close my eyes at night. I’m so overwhelmed with His holiness. In the light of God’s holiness and studying about it, I’ve felt the ugliness of my sinful nature and I have such a desire to be clean in my spirit. I want to live a holy life and I want for God to be pleased with me.

God’s holiness should lead one to:

Repentance of sin
Faith in Christ
Holy and moral conduct…righteousness

The greatest blessing that I feel has happened to me after all these weeks of feasting on the knowledge of the holiness of God is that I’m in total awe of His holiness. I still cannot grasp the greatness of it all because there is no way in this human form that I can do that. God’s righteousness is too big for my mind. There are just not enough words to describe His holiness. I feel helpless in even trying to explain anything about His awesome holiness. I’m using a lot of words because my mind is trying to relate this information to you but my heart knows these mortal’s words are not really going to do it for you. We should always keep trying to get understanding even so. We should seek the Holy Spirit to reveal the Rhema/living and inspired word of God to us.

All I have is my awe of Him and what the bible says about His holiness. I can understand so many other things about Him… like His love, mercy and kindness…I get that and it truly moves me. But His holiness is hard for me to totally internalize. His holiness does make me have a lot of fear of the Lord and that’s a good thing. Yes I said…fear… not scared out of my mind fear… but I have total respect for His authority, majesty and power. My heart and soul cries out… “Glory and majesty to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!” and I sing…” Holy, Holy, Holy to the Lord God Almighty maker and ruler over everything!!!!!” “ You Lord God are worthy of all my praise!!”

God’s holiness makes me feel VERY grateful to Him!!!!! I’m soooo happy to be His friend, His bride, His daughter, His adopted child and His servant. To think that before I got saved I was His enemy because of my original sin and now I’m His daughter and an heir to the kingdom with my brother Jesus. I am in awe! This is a true Cinderella story!!! This story has a very happy ending for me and for you!

I’ve been trying to get a mental picture of God’s holiness. I’ve pictured myself being presented to the president of the United States, or maybe the queen of England or even the Pope. How would I act? Would I be on my best behavior and manners? Would I show a lot of respect? I know that I would be overly respectful…. so how should I feel about being in the presence of my Holy God?

I know you’re going to think I’m strange and that’s OK because I know I am LOL! One of my favorite movies beside the Sound of music… is the wizard of OZ. I love the part when Dorothy and her friends were walking down that long hall to see the great and powerful OZ. He had all that smoke and deep bellowing powerful sounding voice and they were shaking in their boots.

Isaiah 6:1-4 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. ²Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. ³And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”⁴At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

What they experienced was fear and terror. I will never experience anything like that with my Holy God! I experience tremendous His forgiveness and love. I do experiences His awe, majesty and holiness when I’m in my prayer closet. I sometimes shake, tremble and cry because of feeling His holy presence. When I’m in this place with God I cry out for Him to forgive me of anything I’ve done that goes against His nature…His holiness, His word and then I can spend hours just bathing in His love and friendship. I also experience great emotions that lead me to worshiping my creator… my Holy God!

I want to feel close to my Holy God and the more I learn and experience Him… the closer I feel to Him. His holiness lets me know that He is so set apart from everything and everyone I know. There is no other like Him. His holiness is His beauty and glory. His Holiness makes me want to worship Him in the deepest possible way.

I have been praying for an example of holiness that I can put in my mind and yesterday the Holy Spirit gave me a mental picture which I’m going to share with you:

If a tiny piece God’s fingernail popped off and fell to earth right through the sky and through the ceiling where I am… I would fall right on the ground and I would be crying out for God’s forgiveness. I would not be able to stand in the present of His holiness…even the smallest part of Him like a piece of fingernail would be enough to fill the room with so much of His Glory. God’s holiness is huge and a very serious matter to me! 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Being in the presence of His God’s Holiness will make you want to confess your sins! His holiness will purify us!!! Thank you Jesus!

I hope that through this long series of blogs on the holiness of God you will be able to feel the passion to try to be Holy because our God is holy. This can change you and will bring you to a place of revival in your spirit man…in your soul. Isaiah 57:15 For this is what the high and exalted One says– he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.

The world truly needs and understanding of what God wants of us…and that is to live a holy life in Christ! We say things like holy cow…holy smokes and we throw that word around so much that we have dehumanized it to the point of it being almost meaningless. It’s a special word that talks about the greatest attribute of our God. Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty!!!!!

Message for today: Seek after God’s holiness! Be ye Holy…live right!

Jesus died to make all your dreams of a place to go to after you die come true. Jesus made it possible for you to have a way to this powerful Holy God now and forever! Don’t let this moment pass you by. Tomorrow is not promised to you. So many things are happening is this world these days. You need a blessed assurance of peace and comfort forevermore for you and your whole family.)

The Holiness of God and our need for Mercy

Psalms 103:11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

We are so blessed by God’s holiness. Even our trials and our suffering are blessed because it’s helping us to be all that God wants us to be in Him. This is very hard to figure out and accept. God’s holiness has a chain reaction in our lives which we cannot see it because it’s all happening in the spirit and not by our sight. God doesn’t always explain why He allows us to go through things but we have a guarantee of His mercy.

In trying to understand about His holiness I know that all His motives are pure and I now understand why He said He will give us new mercies every morning. We need them because in our day we are probably going to go through something trying. We need God to be merciful. We could have an accident, get sick or anything could happen to us or our family….but that mercy is there for us coming straight from the heart of God to our lives.

Job 2:10 He replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said. It’s good to know that this scripture is in the bible and we should try to understand what it’s saying. God is Holy and wise and when He allows the good and bad to happen…we should TRUST Him. We may not understand now…but He knows what He’s doing and we can be confident in The Holy One’s ability to care for us. The bible says that all things will work out for our good….believe it!

Another reason for needing mercy is that because of the holiness of God we could come under some hard judgment. We can’t stand up under His holiness….so because of Jesus Christ…we have an intercessor and advocate. God has shown us so much mercy. We have a holy and just God and we also have a very merciful and loving God. God knows how powerful His holiness is. He protects us from it because if He didn’t we would all burn up like straw from His wrath and judgment….but oh for His mercy and His grace!

We need to really think about the Holiness of God because this is a large part of our Christian life! We pleases God when we are holy because our Lord and Savior came down here and let Himself be disrespected, mocked and abused so that we can be saved. He wanted us to be with Him for all eternity. Because of God’s Holy nature… this would not have been possible had Jesus not done what He did. Our holy God even came to live inside of our human bodies so He can give us direct guidance so that we will learn to be Holy, acceptable and pleasing to Him..

Our Holy God has done everything for us!! Everything He has provided for us has come straight from His heart out love for us. It wasn’t easy for His Son to make our redemption, salvation and sanctification possible. Think about the anguish Jesus went through before He was even crucified. Jesus prayed so hard at Gethsemane and even asked His Father to take the cup of suffering away if possible. Not because of the physical suffering… although that was going to be very difficult and severe. Jesus had suffered before living for 40 days with no food. It was a Holy God’s Son taking on all humanities sins and having His Father remove His presence from Him. Jesus is God and He wanted to take care of sin for all of us. For a Holy God… this was a very big sacrifice!!!!! See how merciful God is? Can you really see it now? We need His mercy because of His holiness!!

Psalms 123:3 Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end of contempt.

It’s all about the Holiness of God…and His love for His creations! His holiness goes hand in hand with His mercy. I have cried out it the midnight hour (meaning heavy suffering) “Have mercy on me Lord!!!” I feel very secure that God is faithful and the His mercies are new every single solitary morning…and on top of that I have His grace too!! But I will never want to take advantage of God and demand His help. He is wise and holy and I know because of His holiness that He will do the wisest things on my behalf. I do ask boldly because He said I should…but I ask according to His will also. I know what He’s promised me in His word (the bible) and I stand on that just like Jesus did when He was here on earth.

Thank God I’m the daughter of a Holy God! I can be 100% sure that He has my BEST interest at heart!!! He’s holy, Holy, Holy!!!! All praise, Glory and Honor be to our Holy God!

Message for today: God is Holy…and His mercies endureth forever!!!! We need to praise God for that!

Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Holiness is important to God and you

You cannot enter heaven and see God without 100 % holiness. His Holiness would burn you up. For the Lord your God is a consuming fire…Deuteronomy 4:24. God is light… so bright that there is no need for the sun in heaven. His light is powerful and so is His holiness. This light…His holiness will consume anything that is not holy. One would be consumed/burnt up by His purity which would happen because s judgment and wrath which is there because of His…Holiness. This is who He is and has always been.

You can’t have one drop of imperfection in you! Without complete holiness we would never be able to see God face to face one day. Nothing impure can ever approach God! Because of Jesus we will be able to stand before our Holy God. This is why this scripture that makes me cry is so important to me:

Jude 1:24 To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy….

Thank you God, Jesus and Holy Spirit… for making it possible for me to be holy like you… so that I don’t fall into sin and that I can be blameless before your presence. I will not have to bend my head in shame and I will be sooooo happy because I will be guiltless. I will look into the eyes of my God and receive all the joy that has been promised to me for being faithful and living a holy life. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice! Thank you Holy Spirit for instructing me every single day on being holy and convicting me when I’m not!

We are made holy by means of sanctification. Because Of Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives…we have been made holy so now we can communicate directly with God in this human form. Even so…we must be clean. That’s why we ask Jesus to forgive us and wash us clean so our communication with our Father God is not interrupted. Remember…God does not tolerate sin! “Wash me Lord”… should be our daily prayer. Hebrews 10:10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

We are to be Holy because God commands it of us. Leviticus 19:2 Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.

Matt 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. A pure heart is a holy heart and that is Holiness!

Revelations 22:4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. We will see our holy God’s face….and that’s a fact!!!! Be encouraged today!! Know how much God loves you and has done everything to assure that you will live with Him for all eternity in His love. We have an awesome future! Hang in there! Endure what you are going through! Keep the faith!

Message for today: To him who is able to keep you from sinning and enable for you to be blameless and holy and to present you before his glorious and holy presence faultless with no guilt or shame and with the greatest joy and happiness forever….to our God and Savior who deserves all of our gratitude, praises and worship through His Son Jesus Christ to be exalted right now and for all eternity…so be it!
