For the purpose of this blog today I would like to concentrate on being filled with the Holy Spirit.
John the Baptist was faced with being decapitated. He also preached a very strong message about sin and repentance, in which I know upset some people.
Luke 1:15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born.
Stephen was a man in the bible who was being terrorize by a gang of men called the Sanhedrin’s who he was trying to tell truth to about the kingdom of God. In the midst of being threatened with sure death he was able to deal with it and even asked God to forgive these awful men who were going to murder him.
Acts 7:55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
The first church went through great danger and persecution because of them being Christ followers.
Acts 4:31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Jesus Christ Himself was about to be starved and tempted for 40 and nights to the point of extreme weakness hunger and thirst.
Luke 4:1,2 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2where for forty days He was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He was hungry.…
There is a clear pattern here. Great trials lead to reliance on help and strength from the Holy Spirit!!!!!!!!!!! There is NO getting around this. So, we all have a lot of time on our hands. Let’s do some bible study on the Holy Spirit. Find out EVERYTHING the bible reveals about who He is and what He can do in the believers life. With His help and strength, we will be able to bare up under this present and concerning trial that we are ALL going through.
We all need prayer; we all need help, all at the same time. I don’t think since the days of Noah has there been a trial that has endangered every single person on earth. But I know two things for sure…. God will help us by the power of the Holy Spirit and this trial will end! Not only is there light at the end of the tunnel…the tunnel is illuminated by the Son of God Himself. Jesus is the light that is going to see us through! Can I get an AMEN?
