Why Am I Here? The Purpose for My Life

Why Am I here?

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Isaiah 43:7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

If you are NOT a Christian….you probably won’t be able to process this information….but can you at least explore it?

I finally just got this understanding myself a few years ago when I was in very deep prayer. I know that the Holy Spirit gave me this so that I can understand clearly why I’m here…so I’ll try to explain what I received.

The whole purpose for my life is………….”It’s ALL about God!”   This whole thing…..life…living…the bible…..all that I know….all that I’ve learned….all I do….my very breath….is all about God. My life is not to be focused on money…things….job. Even friends and family don’t come before God. These things God has allowed me to have and I’m grateful for all He gives me….but….it’s all about Him….God. That’s it! My life is to bring Him glory in all I do and say. My purpose is to do his will…..just like my brother Jesus.

It’s all about God…everything! We are not even down here that long. I can’t believe I grew up…got married and raised a family…..have grown children….and one day in the near future I will not be on this earth and in this form.

Before I became a committed Christian…it was all about me…my wants and my desires. My whole life was geared around living for NOW! After experiencing salvation and the grace, peace, presence and love of God…..I DON’T WANT ANYTHING ELSE BUT GOD!! I know whose I am, why I’m here, and what my purpose is. I am to bring Him glory, worship Him, obey Him serve Him and honor Him with my life. Knowing this information has made me so happy inside and I have so much peace.

This body I have…. only holds my spirit and is a temple for Gods Holy Spirit. When I die…my spirit will leave this body right away and I will be present with the Lord. Right now the Holy Spirit is preparing me for my eternal life….a holy life with God. The Holy spirit is making me into what God wants me to be…although I’m flawed now….I have been forgiven because of Jesus dying on the cross for me and even though I still do sin (my original sin was taken care of by Jesus)….I can ask for forgiveness and I keep pressing on to live a life that is pleasing to God.

I know who I am, I know why I’m here and I know where I’m going! My life has direction. I know my spiritual gifts and I know the natural gifts that God has given me to use on earth…..come on…you’re not gonna me list everything out are you?……Oh good….because my blog would be so long…..but you get my point.

Many people are looking for their purpose in life. Many people are asking this question…..Why am I here?

Our souls seem to have a natural instinct to want to know this information. Until we find this answer we will try to make our life fit in this world…like trying to put a round peg in a square hole. It’s very frustrating so people try to find things and do things to satisfy this longing to know…to fit into this world.

Some might ask….well who does God think He is to get all this attention from us? I tell you…. He is the creator and when you understand this secret of life you will have peace. The secret is hidden in the gospel. Once you unlock that door…goodness will pour into your life…..and then you will be like me…knowing your purpose….knowing why you are here.

Message for today: It’s all about God….everything about us is all about God.

Homework – Get a sheet of paper and list out on one side all of your spiritual gifts and on the other side you natural gifts. Surprised huh?…..to see all God has done in your life.

The Dash…Your life story

If you have very little on your paper….. Houston …we have a problem! Start praying for God to reveal things to you and then……go out and bring some glory to our Father. Many people have preached sermons about your death date on your tombstone…the dash between the day you were born and the day you died. That dash is your life….what have you done? How much glory will God get out of your life?

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

If You’re Invited to the devils Pity Party – Don’t Go!

You are invited….but don’t attend

James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Do you know the devil is after you? Yeah…..He is really real and he wants your soul!!! I don’t like talking about the devil a lot because I don’t want to give him that time in my mind. I’d rather talk about Jesus all day everyday………BUT…..people need to know the facts about satan. Knowledge is power…..what you don’t know can hurt you in this case. You need to know about his tricks.

I know that the devil will use all kinds of tricks and deceptions in your mind. He will make things that are not true come as truth to you. If you Know God’s word and have hidden His word in your heart….If you have submitted your whole self (body, mind and spirit) you CAN resist the devil. This is a fact.
The definitions of flee: to run….disappear…….escape from……tear away from…….high tail it out of there….leave suddenly and quickly.

Can you imagine the devil having to flee…run from you?

Let me tell you how the devil played tricks on me. If you think about your problems too much you will get very down. Years ago it was very easy for me to get down. I would dwell…focus on my situation and before I knew it….I got an invitation to the devils pity party. Have you ever been invited? Here’s one of his invitations for me:

You are invited to a Pity Party

Date…………………………………….……Today
Location……………………………………Anywhere
Time…………………………………….…..Anytime
Given by…………………………………….The demons for the devil (aka satan)
RSVP……………………………………….. None needed-Open invitation

Anyone is invited, any age, color, and race

No gifts accepted…I just want your mind and soul!

Don’t get in the limo!

OK folks… this is what the devil does to me. He invites me to this pity party…I start thinking…whoa is me…..I’m going through so much…nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen…I can’t take this anymore. Then the devil sends the limousine for me and it stops in front of me and the door opens up for me to get in. Now many years ago I would let the devil drive me around in the limo and my soul was tortured with depression, hopelessness, loneliness, confusion, and everything negative he could put in my mind.

Then as I grew in the Lord I would still get in…but I would get right out. Now…today….I see that limo coming down the street and I submit myself to the Lord and with scripture hidden in my heart…..that devil runs from me!!!! The devil hates me and with good reason…I’m a prayer intercessor and I have learned and believed and know that …….. greater is he that is in you( and me), than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

Message for today: If you see that limousine coming for you…don’t get in. The devils got bad plans for you….but our Jesus has exceptional ….wonderful plans for you…and He will bring it all to pass!!! You can take that to the bank and cash it!!

This cake is not good for you

Don’t you let the devil trick you….Ya’ hear?

Parkinson’s disease- A Mother’s Wish and Jesus

A Mother's Love

John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

I was in a grocery store yesterday getting some cold cuts and there was a lady next to me who was waiting to be served also. I start conversations with people so I can have an opportunity to share the gospel as the Lord leads. I could see she had some sort of disability. I started talking to her and during our talk she revealed she had Parkinson’s disease. I immediately felt so bad for her. She was struggling to stand and I knew about Parkinson’s disease because my former pastor had it. I shared with her my own testimony and then it was her turn to order…. but before she did she gave me a big hug.

I walked away to continue my shopping and I saw this older woman smiling at me so I smiled back and she started talking to me. She told me that I was hugging her daughter and that she had Parkinson’s disease. I told her I was very sorry to hear that and then she said something that stunned me. With tears in her eyes she said…..I wish it was me…..I wish I had gotten that disease instead of my daughter. She told me it ran in her family and several family members had died from it. This Woman was 90 years old and heartbroken. I had one of my testimonies on sufferings and I gave it to her and through her tears she asked if I was a Jehovah’s Witness because she was Catholic. I told her no and said a short prayer for her and continued shopping.

I checked out and put my groceries in my car and sat there a while thinking about that mother’s statement of deep love. She would have given her life for her daughters. To hear her say….I wish it was me was still ringing in my ears.

Then I thought about someone who did that for me…..and you…..it was Jesus. He gave His very own life for me.

Jesus Gave His Own Life For Us

John 10:18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

This mother said what she said out of love. Jesus did what He did out of love.

Message for today: Do you realize the incredible sacrifice of love that was made for us?
Have you thanked Jesus lately?

P.S.- This is why I love Jesus so.

Love and Hurt Satchel Paige

Some of Satchel’s famous quotes:

Don’t pray when it rains, if you don’t pray when the sun shines.

Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.

It is this quote that I heard that has been running through my head:

Love like you’ve never been hurt.

Satchel Paige was a Baseball player and a baseball hall of Famer. He was quite outspoken and has been quoted a lot over the years. The above quote has been bothering me all week. I’m really sick of hearing it in my head….but….I know God is doing something here……I just know His MO.

I feel I have been hurt a lot over my life time and I have gotten the victory over much of that hurt with the help of the Lord. But recently I’ve had a lot of hurt resurface as well as new hurt. Here are a few scriptures that can snap you out of that state of hurt:

Proverbs 17:9 Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.(NLT)

Colossians 3:13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Love like you’ve never been hurt.

Yup…These scriptures are hurt busters for sure….if…..you let them be that…..if….you obey them. It’s hard and there are times that you cannot do it on your own….YOU NEED GOD’S HELP!

Personally…..I like to hold on to my hurt quietly and stew….sometimes I can make a whole pot of stew and have enough to feed everyone in the neighborhood. When I’m having a great walk in the spirit….I can overcome the feelings of hurt like an Olympic champion. I’m usually on the mountain top at these times. When I’m in the valley I’m very vulnerable to hurt.

Being in the attitude of LOVE 100% is very hard to maintain. We need to keep ourselves in check by asking ourselves….what would Jesus do with the hurt? I know He would pray about it…I know that. I think about the bible story when Jesus was not a happy camper when they were selling stuff and swindling people in the temple…I’m sure He was hurt to see that going on in His Father’s house. He went buck wild in there throwing over the change tables. The difference with Him was He had a right to do what He did. We have no right to hold on to hurt…in fact God doesn’t like it at all. Say the Lord’s pray to yourself…….Ok…did you?……You know that part about forgiving those who trust past against us?….Yeah….that’s what I’m talking about.

Love like you’ve never been hurt!

Now….I don’t know if Satchel Paige was a Christian, but that quote is something to really think about…and I’ve been thinking.

I do know this fact…..God is love…and He wants us to be forgiving.

Hurt Zombie

Getting over hurt….and loving the hurter is one of the hardest biblical lessons for me to follow. Hurt is like a zombie. You finally get away from it and you feel safe for a while…sometimes a long while….and then….here comes that hurt zombie with his arms out calling…come here…come here. What needs to be done is either #1 or #2:

1. Turn around and knock that zombie’s head off.
2. Submit yourself to God, resist the zombie influence over you, love and pray for him and the stress will flee from you.

You know #2 is the right answer…don’t even think about #1!

Message for today: Love….Love….Love!

A word for Someone

There is a prayer that is blocked…something is standing in the way of you getting your prayer answered.  There is some unforgiveness and you know who it is.  Blessed is the peace maker.  Pray today…right now ….and ask God to reveal this blockage to you.  God is good, loving and kind.  He loves to bless His children.  There is a very important line in the Lords prayer that Jesus taught His disciples.  God over this today and pray for the Holy spirit to make Gods word come alive to you.

Psalms 18:6 In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.

This morning I hear someone crying out to the Lord in such distress.  I feel someones heart is so heavy you can barely function.  The good part if there is a good part in this….is that you are crying out to the Lord.  My heart is heavy knowing that you are hurting so…but I know how to pray and I have prayed for you today and I know you are crying out to the Lord….so we will wait on the Lord to answer your prayers.  One prayer has been answered and that is God gives comfort to those who are suffering so accept His grace and mercy now.  Jesus will carry your burdens Himself so give your problems to Him and be at peace today.

Jesus the Real Superman

Jesus Walks on the Water

Mathew 14:22-26 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into
the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the
crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside
by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the
boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves
because the wind was against it.

Jesus walking on the water

25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on
the lake.
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake,
they were terrified.

“It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.

Yes… Jesus was a superman to me…the real superman…a powerful superman. I said… was… because I’m talking about when He was in His human form here on earth.

There’s not a lot in the bible about Jesus doing things personally to show His supernatural abilities. Yes… He did many miracles for others but not special things pertaining to himself.
Why did Jesus walk on the water up to those poor unsuspecting disciples that day? Did He want to scare the mess out of them for a good laugh?…Did He want to show off His cool Jesus skills?…Did He want to wash His feet off in the lake? Was He trying to start a new fad? After all Peter tried to copy Him without much success. The answer is no…He was about to make a point and teach a good lesson for us all to learn for hundreds of years to come.

You see I would have NEVER gotten out of the boat like Peter did…I would have hidden in the lower galley and use my cell phone to call 911 or start rowing fast in the other direction. I don’t get it…they are all standing there saying it’s a ghost and screaming…and Peter gets out of the boat and ask… is it you Jesus?  Run… Get out of there!! Man the oars and let’s roll! That’s just me…Let me get back on my subject.

John 20:19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

Another bible story told of Jesus appearing in a room with the doors locked. How did Jesus get into the room with all the doors locked?…..No…Scotty from Stat Trek did not beam Him in the room….Super Jesus did it Himself…..the doors were locked…so….this proves my point of Jesus having super abilities.

Are you impressed yet? I am and my point is that Jesus was man but He was not normal…..He had supernatural abilities…that was given Him by the Father…. to teach lessons and to bring God glory.

Jesus could have done some wild things with His supernatural abilities…but He was without sin and wanted to bring glory to His father. If that was us…we would have gotten carried away eventually with that kind of super power.
Jesus didn’t use His superpowers to save Himself from the cross…He surely could have. If He had this kind of super power then…what kind of and how much super power does He have now? He has all power!! His next big demonstration of this superpower is when He comes back toward earth….He doesn’t touch ground but will be in the air over earth and He will get us who repented of our sins and believed in Him.

Message for today: Jesus is the real deal….He once was a superman and now He is an all powerful God. One day you will see His superpower up front and personal whether you are a Christian or not.

Do You Need More Faith? Read This!!!!

Mathew 13:58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

In this scripture above Jesus was in His own hometown preaching and doing miracles. His own townsmen and family really didn’t believe in what He was doing and saying. Jesus could have told them off…..But he was really cool about it. I think He might have thought this….”well I’m not going to perform any miracles here except for a few people who I know really wanted to be healed and  believed that I could heal them…..I’m not pleased with the other folks lack of faith…it doesn’t pleases me or my Father…..too bad I wanted to do so much for them…..but I cannot deal with their LACK OF FAITH!” Yes this is my interpretation….but knowing Jesus the way I do….I know He doesn’t like it when we don’t believe in Him and His Father’s ability to take care of us and we will be hard pressed to get any of our prayers answered that way.
I have so many personal stories of faith and my two best examples involve my two sons. I will tell my son Joshua’s story today.

I had 3 daughters who were 4, 7 and 10. I never wanted any boys and was very happy with my 3 daughters until….I became a committed Christian. I don’t know what happened to me….I think this happened to me because I was reading about the people in the bible…. it seemed important to have sons….so I tried to get pregnant again but after 3 ½ years nothing was happening. So I started praying and praying. I got to the point of literally begging God everyday in prayer. I told Him that He had a Son and I wanted one too. The doctor told me I needed a hysterectomy so He scheduled it…but before I could go ahead with it…. one of my daughters needed to get her tonsils out. About two months later I wasn’t feeling well so I went back to this doctor to reschedule the hysterectomy and after the exam the doctor informed me I was pregnant. I asked him what happened and He said….you tell me! I knew it was a miracle and that it was my son that I asked God for.

God told me to name Him Joshua and for the next 7 months I told everybody I was having a boy named Joshua. My mom and mother in law thought I had lost my mind. I was admitted in the Hospital for the last weeks of the pregnancy and all the doctors, nurses, lab techs…everybody knew about Joshua. They even sent a social worker to talk to me because I was so adamant about having a boy. When I was in the delivery room and he was born… the staff was all yelling “Joshua is here” and they were cheering…even though he was only 3 lbs.  You see… there were no sonograms back then! I had faith!!!….I believed what God spoke to me!!….I had faith that God could and would do it!! I never doubted… not for one minute!!

This is the kind of faith that God wants us to have every day. Do I?……No….I’m just being honest here…there are times that my faith gets low…tiny…weak….but that’s my fault.

My faith gets weak when:

1. I stress about a situation.
2. I think the problem is really big and seems impossible…this is called…DOUBT.
3. I’m sick or very tired and drained.
4. I haven’t been in the word enough I haven’t been keeping my eyes on the Lord.
5. I think I have figured out the answer myself…this is lack of TRUST.
6. I pray out of God’s will.
7. I take my eyes off the Lord and focus on the situation.
8. I let people convince me what to do.
9. I pray and pray….God answers me but I keep praying thinking it’s not exactly what I asked for.
10. I may have unforgiveness in my heart.
11. I may have an unconfessed sin.
12. I’m too busy doing a million things and preoccupied with life’s daily challenges.
13. Neglect my prayer life

Faith knowing your father will be there to catch you!

In our Christian walk with God we need faith like we need air to breathe. God is not moved to answer our prayers because we hope He can do it…but if we know and trust He can do it.
When my kids were little…they didn’t run up to me and say they hoped I could buy the ice cream off that truck….they were ALWAYS CONFIDENT that I could and would buy them that ice cream. They Knew I had money…they knew I could do it if I wanted to and their confidence in me got them that ice cream most of the time.
Are you confident today in God’s ability to answer you when you call to Him? If not… I have the perfect answer for you today….you can take this answer to the bank and cash it:

Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

Faith grows as you read and know Gods word

When you know what God says through His word…when you hear Gods word, when His word gets into your mind, heart and spirit…it is ALIVE in you because of the power of the Holy Spirit…this builds faith in you!

The bible is not a book with black and white pages of writings that you read and that’s it….It is alive….living…active…life changing….faith increasing!! There is one catch….if you don’t know what it says….your faith will be lower and life will be more challenging for you.

When Jesus was tempted by the devil…He used scripture to deal with him. Why did God put this true story in the bible…yup…you guessed it…so we can follow what Jesus did when faced with the devils taunts.

Message for today: Know scripture… know help…No scripture…satan’s gonna kick your butt! ( Hate to put it that way….but….somebody needs to hear this today.
Please…get a good bible and a highlighter….mark that bible up with scriptures that have helped you out of situations, share these with others….become a scripture master and see how your faith will soar. The devil will be scared of you!!!
