 A Prayer for Children

Oh God…My Lord…the children!

Our children are such a target for the enemy

Oh my God…such little ones are being harmed by the one who hides in the dark

Our babies….our munchkins…our little buddies…our child …our teen

We try to protect them as best as we can

We have to let go when they go to daycare…we have to let go when they get on the school bus

We try to be there as much as we can but still they are targets

Oh God…my Lord …the Children!

Some have no one who will watch over them

Some have been forsaken by those who were chosen to care for them

Where is that mother?  Where is that father?  Where are their caretakers? Where are their families?

Oh… their lonely little souls.

So many children have left the land of the living

Some slipped away…some were silenced…some left quietly

All will be sorely missed

Oh God…my Lord… the Children!

But then I think of how much you love the children

I think…God knows what He’s doing

I don’t lean on my own understanding of things that have happened…nobody can figure out the why

Oh God…my Lord…the Children

I know the little ones who sleep… are with you

They have found rest and safety in your arms

Even right now they are experiencing your awesome love.

Oh God…thank you for allowing them to be with you!

Oh God…what will become of the children here on earth?

Who will help them?  Who will watch over them?

You said to do what?  OK…I will…I will continue to pray for the children!

Oh God…My Lord…the Children….help them…In Jesus name I pray!  Amen.

Today I am in prayer for the children that are on this earth right now…and for those who are about to come here.  The song says that “I believe that Children are our future… teach them well and let them lead the way”.  Many of our children have issues….they are influenced by others, by music, they have been from divorced parent homes, many are sick from cancer, diabetes and many other illness, many come from poverty many have been push around, abused or bullied, some are molested…raped or beaten, some are used as child labor or sex slaves and the list goes on and on.

When it comes to children…it seems to put people in a special area of concern because they are so vulnerable and innocent.  This may sound quite simple but…children everywhere truly need our ongoing prayer.  Not only do they need our prayer….but they need us to help them in some way…whether it’s our own children/grandchildren or someone else’s.  We should find some way to invest in our children.  Make a donation to a youth group if you can’t physically do something.
