Ecclesiastes 5:3 A dream comes when there are many cares……..
Luke 10:38-42 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
I hate to be nosey but….what are you going to do today? Do you have a list? A million things to do….places to go….people to see….chores….shopping….fixing….building…..the lawn….the kids….church stuff….and the list can go on and on.
I hear the Lord say today to slow down…slow your mind down and slow your body down. Take some time out just to sit quietly and think calming things. Meditate on the Lord and all His goodness. Think about the blessing over your life time. Think about a smiling baby’s face or a beautiful garden of flowers. Maybe even take a short nap and close your eyes.
Jesus knew about this and when He was a man here on earth He was very busy when His ministry started….people hounded Him and He was preaching and teaching a lot, but He used to get away to rest and pray. These human bodies can only take but so much stress.
When Martha in the scripture above was so busy in her preparations Jesus called out her name twice. I can almost hear His voice as she flitted about. I am a Martha so I know just what she was doing. I’ve learned how to pre-prep now so I can enjoy my company but the point is to slow down with all the business that a day can hold.
Do you really have to do all that today? Will you be perky enough for church? Will you be in danger of falling asleep on your pastor’s sermon tomorrow?
Message for today: Don’t let Jesus have to call your name two times….all these things to do….never mind…..put your feet up and get a cup of tea and …….relax today…..come on ….you can do it!

Unfottunately due to my medical conditions, Fibro/CFS & a couple others I tend to nap more than I really would like . . . . . . I don’t get to fight the problem and read my Bible instead but, I do manage to pray some before the blanket of sleep takes hold of me. I read my Bible at other times when I can and then nap. I use to be a Martha and the Lord in His wisdom has allowed me to be made into a Mary. . . . . . at first I didn’t like this but, now I find it to be a blessing. AS much as i would love a cure for my diseases I don’t want to loose the Mary out look I have now.

I know what you mean…..I’ve never been able to work a job outside the house because of my health. This has enabled me to have a lot of prayer time. My health has also broken me out of that Martha thing. God has a way of making something good out of something bad (Romans 8:28)

A short nap does sound good — maybe I’ll do just that!
