Conceited means to have a high or exaggerated opinion of oneself or one’s accomplishments; Holding or characterized by an unduly high opinion of oneself; vain.
Megalomania is psychopathological disorder characterized by delusional fantasies of power, relevance, or omnipotence.
Is God conceited? NO!!!!! Is God a megalomaniac? No!!!! God absolutely has none of any kind of traits like these that are a deficit to one character. These types of traits are due to some sinful nature and are only known to be possessed by mankind and not by the God that actually created us.
Is God conceited… may seem like a shocking, nervy or even maybe somewhat disrespectful question but… some people have thought this and I would like to give my point of view on this matter because I believe it will help to understand who God is.
There is no way that God can be conceded because… “He is all that and then some”. He is Holy and perfect…..He is the first and the Last…the beginning and the end. There is no one over God….There is no higher being that exist. God always was and always will be the most Supreme being in the entire universe.
I don’t think we as human beings can really understand the full knowledge of His supremeness or omnipotence (Having unlimited or universal power, authority, or force; all-powerful) because with these bodies and limited brain knowledge we just can’t. What we know about God is what God reveals about Himself through the Holy Bible. The Holy Spirit confirms God’s true identity to our spirit when we become born again Christians. This earth reveals the truth about our creator God in its beauty and design. The sheer amount of species of every plant and animal reveals His unique creativity. And finally from my own experiences… are the special miracles and strange coincidences I have had in my own life that are so shocking… that I know… only God could’ve made it happen.
I want to share this with you…I did a week of blogs a few months ago on the “Holiness of God” and it really helped me to understand why I should get on my face before this very Holy God and give Him praise. It’s a lot of reading but try to read my blogs on The Holiness of God. It has been life changing for me.
We should not ever identify with God on our level because that just makes Him regular… like us. We need to see Him for what He really is…..which is the most set apart supernatural, Holy, creator of all living things and creator of the entire universe, and owner of all time and space. He has the most incredible abilities and power. There is no way to measure His knowledge. Compared to God we are…..well….I can’t even go there because it does not compute! We don’t even come close. God …us…..nuh ah…no comparison!
God is so powerful that there is no sun in heaven because His essence is so overwhelming that no sun is necessary. We can’t even see God face to face in these human forms because we would instantly burn up because of our impurity and because of His Holiness.
God is so unique that He is actually 3 persons in one….a triune God that’s so unique that we humans can barely wrap our brains around the concept that He is 3 distinct personalities in one single entity.
God knows every single thought of all the 7 billion people who are on earth right this minute… all at the same time. Just thinking about Gods unfathomable abilities is mind-blowing!
We humans have been so privileged to have been created and have been given lives, bodies and souls and were born one at a time… this is so amazing to me. Our human bodies are so unbelievably amazing! God allowed the first humans to live for hundreds of years. Then because He decided to do so… we now only live to be from about 80-100+ years old. Why? Because He is God and chooses to do what He wants to and when He wants to do it.
This incredible brain we have has about 100 billion neurons or nerve cells that send messages all over our bodies to operate everything in it. Who do you know that can create something that is so magnificent? If you get a cut… your brain tells your body to heal itself and your skin begins to close up the wound and it’s repaired. Now that is amazing! We are God’s handiwork.
Who do we think we are to even deserve all that this supernatural being has given us…which are our very lives? We are so beneath Him that in His greatness He even thought to fix that problem. There is no way a super being like God could make some other beings like us and we think we get this free ticket to be all that and a bag of chips. We are just created beings…nothing to brag about on our own. But God made a way for us to be supernatural one day too. He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to this planet and Jesus took on all the original sin from humans so that we can eventually be with our creator in an unbelievable place called heaven! Who has that kind of power and authority?
Now with all this power and authority….how can we dare think that God is conceited? He is….GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is His right to be in charge of everything that concerns us and this whole universe because He owns everything and more than all that….He is very very very Holy on top of it all! He is so different and so set apart in His nature….He is so pure….and there is not one single solitary drop of evil in Him!!!!! We ought to be glad about that fact because as bad as we are… we would be fried!! If He was as evil like the gods we portray in ours movies…you know we would all be toast!
But He is perfect and His main character traits are love, grace and mercy. We ought to be really really glad about these attributes of God. Can I get an amen right here? When you read about what He reveals about Himself in the bible and think about His holiness and you meditate on this information… it will send chills up your spine to think about whom we are really dealing with and how powerful His is. When Moses saw the burning bush …Moses had to take his shoes off because the ground around the bush where he was standing was so holy. Now that’s how great just the presence of God is.
The Ark of the Covenant was so holy because of the presence of God being in that unique container… that if anyone who wasn’t sanctified first and that was specially selected to touch the Ark… their life was in danger….well really… they were killed instantly. Why? Because of the Holiness of God.
The very first commandment is about God. The greatest commandment that Jesus taught is in Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. I don’t need to explain this because it’s very clear and Jesus said do this…period!
Some non Christians have a big problem with hearing that the bible says that God is a jealous God. For the record…. God is not a green-eyed monster ….that is NOT what this is saying at all!!! Remember…there is no evil in God and He is not capable of having negative or unholy thoughts…so this line of thinking is NOT possible.
“God “WILL NOT” share what is His alone with anyone else because all praise, glory and honor belongs to Him alone.”
When humans make other gods with their own hand and worship it…or worship the stars, moon, sun, animals, etc, that “HE” made…this really ticks Him off and rightly so! This world and everything in it belong to Him alone.
God does not think more highly of Himself because He “is” high. He is exalted!! He is the most high God so there is no need for Him to be conceited because it’s a fact that there is no one as worthy as He is.
I felt led to write this blog today because I don’t believe some people do not fear of God. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
I fear the Lord!!! I respect His power and authority. I humbly bow before Him and surrender my spirit…my soul. I respect His power over my life. It’s very easy to get comfortable in this world and to think…my life…my job….my family….my money…my house…my car…my bank account….me, my me my! I need to keep my mind on Christ all day every day and remind myself that it’s not about me….my life… “IT’S ALL ABOUT GOD!”. He is the first and most important person in my life. There should be nothing that comes before Him in any area of my life!
I think about when my life on earth is over and I finally know everything about God in my afterlife. I think that I will be disappointed that I didn’t do more to show God the respect, honor worship, exaltation, praise, Glory, reverence, and adoration that He deserves from me. Won’t others be so shocked after they either said.. there is no God…or they disrespected His name and come to find out who He really is. That will be a very frightening day for them. They will have to acknowledge His awesomeness and power and they will bow down to Him. All humans will bow down to God! Some will bow because they love Him so much and some will bow because they will not be able to stand because they will be judged and found guilty and because of the power of God’s holiness… they will have to bow and confess that He is Almighty God.
Do you know with whom you are really dealing with? Do you really know who God is? Do you really understand about His Holiness and His supremeness? If your answer is yes then you could never think God is conceited! I’m telling you….God is nothing to play with. Don’t mess with His name or His fame! Don’t call Him the big guy upstairs. Don’t cheapen him or pull Him down to your level. He is NOT human or your buddy, dude or homey! He is God!!
The best thing you can do for yourself is to get this mental picture. You’re standing before this Awesome Holy all-powerful supreme being and you are so grateful to Him for giving you life and all the blessing you have received from Him and you are in such total awe of Him that you get on your hands and knees and crawl over to Him and bow in total submission to His authority over you. You realize that you are not low enough… so you lay down stretched out prostrated before Him.
And you know what? When you feel all the love that He has for you…you will not be able to control your desire to worship Him and serve Him forever and forever more! This is the kind of thoughts a child of God should have. We should KNOW who our God is.
I first had the thought of doing this blog a year ago because so many people are always bringing up the fact that the bible says God is a jealous God. One day Whoopi Goldberg was talking about it on The View and I had enough! I’m tired of the God bashing by picking out one line of scripture without knowing the context in which it was written. It had taken me a year to get my thoughts together about this matter. I feel lead to say this to you today….we need to know God…Jesus Christ Father like we’ve never known Him before. We need focus on Him and keep our mind on Him all day and all night. These are perilous times as the bible predicted will happen (Mathew 24:1-14 Luke 21:5-10). We need to know and be assured in our spirit about the God we believe in and serve and we need to share this knowledge with others. This is why I write my blog. God bless and keep you!
Exodus 20:3-5 You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God,
Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Revelations 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

On second thought, after reading your article on the holiness of God, perhaps it is His holiness that is the greatest force in the universe, and from His holiness flows His love. Still my question remains.
Perhaps it is pointless to try to figure out how it is that we are so blessed as to have a God of all holiness, goodness, light, love, mercy, grace and forgiveness -all good things and nothing evil in any way? Is it pointless to try to figure out how God is so mind-boggling good?

We see through a glass darkly……
One day we will know all Proverbs 3:5 tell us about leaning on our understanding…and it also goes on to tell us to submit to the Lord. We must give ourselves over to our Lord and worship Him with living our lives to please Him. The Holy Spirit helps us to achieve this. When the things of God becomes mind-boggling…it’s not the best thing for us. Get a great song like How great thou art and just minister it in song to the Lord. Take time to enjoy His presence.
I know about doing this because I’ve mind-boggled a lot about the things of God. It’s kinda good because it helps one to KNOW Him….but if you do it too much…its distracting. We have to keep a balance of things even with the Lord. We will know all things about Him very soon. I can’t wait! Until then every thing we need to know is in His word and there is a world out there that needs to hear this message.
You are so precious Sister Anne. God bless you!

Dearest Tanya,
Thank you for your kind responses and replies on your site. Your words of consolation, encouragement and love feel like a healing balm from God for me. Thank you also for your prayer. I accept every word in the name of Jesus.
Wow! This morning before turning on my computer (so I had not yet seen your emails or online responses to me) the thought occurred to me to wonder if I should consider starting a blog. But 1) I am up to my ears with responsibilities leaving me with no time (I think) to manage a blog. 2) I would not know how to begin. But seeing your blog did inspire me to wonder if God would have me to share things He lays on my heart with others out there.
I love you, my sister in Jesus, Ann Cantrell

Greetings in the name of Jesus from Alabama, USA. Praise be to God for all that He has done in and through you and your life. Praise be to God for my computer and for the Internet so that I could be blessed by finding your website and how God has blessed you and blessed others through you.
One day a few years ago I was suddenly struck by the awesomeness of God’s love, and how that love is the greatest power and force in His whole created universe. Since then I have been on a hunt to find someone who can dialog with me on this topic, and wonder if you can relate to what I feel God has shown to me.
I am now sixty-two years of age and I have believed in Jesus and known of His love for me ever since I was five years old. Although I have made some serious mistakes in my life, the Lord continues to show Himself ever faithful to me. God has given me a glimpse of something wonderful, but I am still a sinner saved by His grace, With that, I will proceed with my query.
As Christians we take for granted that God is real and alive, that He created everything out of nothing and everything in the universe remains on the course that He set it to when He first created it all.
God is the only one like Himself. He was not voted into His place as God. There was no line-up of candidates with Him being chosen from among a number, all with varying characteristics. Our God, the only God there is, ever was, and ever will be is a God of love. God is love. We would not even know what real love is without Him being LOVE, and this is the point of my pondering.
Imagine you found yourself in a country where the ruler was nothing but kind and compassionate toward all his subjects, and that you knew that your country was surrounded by other countries that were ruled by men who were nothing but cruel and despicable. You might ask yourself how your country came to be so blessed, how your ruler came to be such a kind man. The answer may be along the lines of “He had parents who were loving and kind and raised him that way,” or “He had loving and kind teachers and/or mentors.” There would be some explanation for the reason for his loving and kind nature. But God had no parents, no teachers or mentors. God had no beginning. So how do we explain (or wrap our minds around) the fact that God is a God of love, in opposition to any lesser qualities of character, (none of God characteristics are lesser, of course), and that the best we could possibly hope for as the foundation of the universe is actually the reality of life?
God’s love shows through so much of His creation – the gorgeous colors of flowers and butterflies, the peaceful blue of the sky, especially as a backdrop to the green grandeur of the trees and the majestic mountains; the provision of rain when we need it; and so many other ways. God’s love is revealed to us through our families and friends (for some of us who are blessed in that way) and especially as it is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.
The Bible tells us that God is past finding out. Very likely the end of my pondering cannot be reached by human conjecturing, and that this whole topic is a mystery that can only be understood after we are with Him in Heaven. Still I feel led to seek out other believers in God and in the truth of His Word to discuss such things with.
So many people are caught in lives of cruelty and devastation or tragic events which cause many people to not know of God’s love for them, but to those of us who know, we realize that over all is the loving watchful eye of God. And as Jesus said, the greatest commandment is to love God, and the second greatest is to love our neighbor as ourselves. Also, Paul said “faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love.”
Is this making any sense at all? I guess my query touches on the mystery of God’s eternal characteristics. I would appreciate any response the Lord lays on your heart to share with me.
Your sister in Christ Jesus,
Mrs. Ann Cantrell

Thank you Tanya for a wonderful message and you are so right, we have an Awesome God who can do no evil and who Loves us greatly, He is our Abba Father, our Daddy and as we depend on Him and Trust and obey, as a young Child does their Parents, then we never need to have fleshy fear but yes as you said we are to Respect Him in Awe, which is the Hebrew meaning of fear when used in this context.
Jesus Christ is God our Creator and as you shared, part of The Godhead or Trinity as They are called today, three in One, how can we not be in Awe of Him, He is Majestic but I’m sure Tanya like me you can’t find enough adjectives to describe His greatness and His wonderful Love for us and we Love Him because He first Loved us and we know He does because, we know His heart and good plans for us (1Corinthians2:9-16)
But like you, I can’t give life or even create a Tree and what about our belly buttons, no animal has ever had the same and yet when we ask, He freely gives us His Love which heals and overflows our hearts with His deep inner Joy and Peace… we are asking as King David did, to create in us a pure heart, His Love is pure and we have His assurance because of His sacrificial Love and sacrifice, that we are set free from the slavery of sin and He will empower us to put our flesh to death as we choose to turn from evil and do good.
Thank you again Tanya – Christian Love from both of us – Anne.
