Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine: your anointing oils are fragrant; your name is oil poured out; therefore virgins love you. Draw me after you; let us run. The king has brought me into his chambers. (Song of Solomon 1:1-4)
I pray that you did not read the book “Fifty Shades of Gray” and I hope you don’t go to see the movie. I heard the book and the movies are about the dark side of intimate relationships. I don’t think I need to get into any more detail than this.

There is a dark side to some things in life. Stay away. Seek the light of Jesus Christ in everything you do.
Anytime you get into the dark side about anything in life….it surely does not represent God, the Holy Spirit and Jesus.
This movie will trigger a more disturbing trend into our society…as if we need more. Things that have been done in secret is going to be more out in the open. Women are already vulnerable as it is and we don’t need any more incentives that can lead to abuse of any kind.
God has included the beautiful side of personal relationships in the bible. Take time to read the book of Song of Solomon. It’s power packed with wonderful mental images of what God intended for a married man and woman.
We have to be very careful about what goes into our mind. You can look at a beautiful lake and it can be breath taking. People will want to take pictures in front of it. But if this lake had garbage strewn all around and the trees and grounds were overgrown… nobody would want to visit there. That is the way it is with our minds. Garbage in garbage out. The enemy is very subtle and you may think the images of what you see and hear don’t affect you but they do. They can make you feel dirty inside or you can watch, read and hear so much junk that you become immune to things we know God wouldn’t approve of.
Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
That is why we must ….. walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.( Galatians 5:16)
God gave us a conscience. It’s built into our human DNA. We just know when something is not right. God gave us free will. We can choose to do right or wrong. When making a choice about what movie to see….tap into that conscience and make a decision in light of Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 6:10- 12 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.…
(How I really feel. All forms of porn is a sin and even if it is dressed up as a movie or book…seemingly harmless. This can lead you down a path that can lead to all hell breaking loose in your life. Sex outside of marriage is wrong….Sex that is hurtful or vulgar is wrong. God invented sex and He made it to be a beautiful thing. Anything other than the way He intended it to be is out of order.
If sex seems nasty and you feel uncomfortable or bad…then it is! Even in a marriage. There is plenty of help if one has a problem in this area. Ask God to help you. You will feel better about yourself and you will be in a right place with God. Isn’t your soul worth more than doing something that displeases God? He sees what you think and do in secret. Do the right thing!)
Colossians 3:5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Mathew 5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Ephesians 5:5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Hebrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

I think it’s important that we represent a Christian viewpoint in the
whole debate. We can’t just be opposed to it, we need to have something
to present that engages those hoodwinked by the original 50 shades
enough to show them that Christianity has a valid (better) alternative.
I’ve talked to people til I’m blue in the face about the movie and domestic
violence and respect etc etc but it’s hard to make them listen. I did
though find a Christian fiction alternative that is mirrored on the
story but presents God’s love not the fake and manipulative 50 shades
love. Very based around John’s interpretation of Christ’s message and concepts like being a doulos for Christ.
Interesting stuff in its own right and consequently I’ve found a few of my secular friends have said, oh okay if you’re just giving me a novel I’ll read it whereas they wouldn’t have engaged in a full blown debate over it.
Two of those friends have now started to (periodically) attend church. One
said to me ‘I didn’t know you had a bigger love until I read that
book.’
Drawback is it’s only on kindle though

Dear Tanya,
Thank you for the warning. God has been showing me the exact same thing recently. Perversion is even on kids cartoon. They seem innocent but I have learned there are hidden messages on Disney movies that seem harmless but are programming our kids for sex. I have thrown away all the princess movies my five year old had. She was fantasizing too much about boys, and kissing. I regret not seeing this before and allowing her to see these movies, but I pray to God I can have greater discernment from here on. Hollywood is spiritual garbage!! Praise God for his truth that shines.

Oh we need to pray. It’s the only answer for this. We must watch over our children and Grandchildren.

You are so right Tanya! We have to be careful what we allow into our soul and mind. It’s as you said, the enemy is subtle and wants us to think that what we see and hear won’t affect us, but it certainly does. Thank you for speaking to this issue.
God bless you,
Tricia

Tanya, I couldn’t agree more! I didn’t read this book and have no intention of going to see the movie. Satan is cleverly working to destroy ALL morals, isn’t he? “Garbage in, Garbage out.” Yep, that’s a good summary! I know folks will argue, How can you speak against something if you haven’t seen it? But that’s irrelevant. We don’t have to experience everything to know that some things are just WRONG!!
