Many people will suffer from depression at some point in their lives. You might have this problem today. It happens. God addresses this in the bible. Here are 3 versions of the same scripture:
2 Corinthians 7:6 But God, who comforts the depressed, comforted us by the coming of Titus; NASB
2 Corinthians 7:6 But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus, NIV
2 Corinthians 7:6 Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus; KJV
The big take away here is… “But God!” Who will comfort you! God will also bring people into your life to be a blessing to you. This may be medical help or a good friend. I was healed of depression in 1983 and looking back on my experiences God did provide both medical help and many good friends and family that helped me during those difficult years.
David in the bible cried out to God for help when he was in emotional despair. Psalms 43:5 Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. (NASB) Let this be your prayer also.
More comforting help are these next 2 scriptures verses:
2 Corinthians 6:16… “I will dwell in them and walk among them;… God indwells us Christians and He is here with us! We are not alone in this. We may feel like it sometimes but the bible says God is in us and with us.
2 Corinthians 6:18 And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me, “Says the Lord Almighty. I am Gods daughter. My Father God loves me. I trust my Father God to watch over me. With His help I know that I can hold on through my suffering.
This scripture verse really helps me to hold on through these trials. One day in my future I will never shed another tear!! Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” My troubles will not last always! There will be rest for my weary soul! I know I can hang in there!
Psalms 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
God has done this wonderful mending in my life many many times! He will do it for you! Be encouraged not only from my mere words but with the words of God. God’s words have power and are life-giving and life changing!
God please bless all those who need this word today. God please heal the broken-hearted and those who are crushed in their spirit. Lord… some have struggled their whole lives with depression and some are depressed because of going through some hard difficulties. I know you care so much about what they are going through. Please strengthen them and lift up their countenance. Thank you for taking care of them and thank you for in advance for healing their mind and emotions. I ask these things in Jesus name…amen.

This is so good, Tanya! I’ve had problems with depression most of my life. I take medicine to balance the brain chemicals and usually do very well. But when I have had problems, God’s Word and the support of my church family and friends have helped me come through. One scripture that I’ve hung on to is Hebrews 13:5 that reminds me that God will never fail or forsake me. Another reminder that I cling to is that nothing can ever take me out of God’s hand or separate me from His love. I’m sure your post will minister to many people. Thanks for sharing it.

Hi. Thank you for your blog. I received medical help from my depression 5 years ago. I thank God I didn’t harm myself during those years. I was going through a difficult break up, mother has cancer, and hateful people on the job. But in spite of all these things I’m still blessed. Even though I suffer from major depression. I still have God with me each and every day. Thanks for this wonderful blog. You are a blessing to me.
