Since the beginning of mankind I’m sure that this is a question that every human being has thought of at one point. It’s truly a logical question. I think about this question often because it always helps to puts God into perspective in my mind. It points to how unique our God is. (This is the God whose Son is Jesus Christ who died and rose again to take away our sin.) It’s a question that should have faith in God be at the forefront. In other words faith is needed to believe that God is real. The bible gives us a lot of descriptions about who God is in our dimension of time.
But God doesn’t give us information about Him in His realm. He couldn’t possibly because our minds aren’t capable of assimilating that kind of information. It’s way beyond our realm of coming close to understanding where He came from what so ever!!! I get that about God and I’m good with that. I’m good with that because the Holy Spirit is in me and He has confirmed to me that God is real. So I have settled into being content in what I know about God before “in the beginning”.
My place of residence, my state, my country, my planet, this atmosphere, this universe and this galaxy are a part of my existence right now and God’s world is not. Not even close! In His world there is no such thing as time, space or any kind of world that we humans could identify with. Why would God try to explain what we could never understand? For right now God requires us to have faith in Him as a requirement for our salvation? And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6
The first words in the bible says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1:1. That is the beginning for us not for God. The whole part before “in the beginning” is God’s realm! We just have to have faith in God and all that He is and has ever been. If you try to go beyond that in your mind you will come to a big road block and you will know you have just entered into the twilight zone. If you ponder on this thought too long you could even get to the point of denying the existence of God.
In one of the most popular stories “The Wizard of Oz” was about a world that existed in another realm. Many of the Sci-fi movies and TV shows have a common theme of other galaxies. We are fascinated by this concept. But in our world, this is all true for mankind in our relationship with our unique God and His whole being.

The Hubble telescope has found at least 100 billion galaxies!!! We are in one of those galaxies!
If you want an understanding about the uniqueness of God…just read these two books of the bible, Ezekiel and Revelation. Whew! You will understand that we are not in Kansas anymore and God is an extremely supernatural being to us in our world. This world is a micro speck on the map compared to God’s realm. We did not call Him into our world but He created us and allowed us to be somewhere in His realm.
We must see Him as a totally different entity than us. We were created in His image and after salvation can be adopted into His family where we will someday be ushered into His presence and His realm. We have no choice but to be satisfied with the information that the bible provides for now.
God didn’t come from anywhere…He just is. Exodus 3:14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.'” When you refer to yourself as “I am”…That remark just says it all and that’s it and DROP THE MIKE!!! Everything involved with God has no beginning and on top of that will never end. I don’t even want to say that He was always here because even saying that puts Him in a box of a human time frame. God has promised us so much and has blessed us with incredible love. Let’s spend our time pondering that fact and not worrying about where He came from.
Our God is one God in three persons. That right there should tell you that there is something VERY unique special about Him. It’s impossible to comprehend the concept of our triune God. We are ALL struggling with that fact about God. So why would we think we could understand the concept that God is eternal? He always was and He will always be.
If you do want to travel down the road of “where did God come from?” it should make you shake with fear and wonder. It should make you want to make sure that you are saved by believing in His Son’s death and resurrection. It should make you want to tell someone the good news of the gospel. Why? Because the fact that God has always been in existence and we can be with Him forever is very powerful thought to rejoice about.
Is there solid proof of His eternal existence beyond what the bible and the heavens reveal? No…we don’t have that information. I’m ok with that because the fact that there is proof of Jesus Christ existence is good enough for me. That fact helps me to believe that God is real. The ability to accept this information is enhanced because of the presence of the Holy Spirit living inside of me confirming all the information that’s in the bible. Without His help I would fall off the spiritual bandwagon like the Old Testament saints often did. They didn’t have the benefit of the Holy Spirit.
When I read the bible and gather all the facts about who God is and what He has revealed about His Himself like His exquisite living situation and the glorious beings that surround Him around the throne, I get it that He is not of our world. These facts helps me to put into perspective in my mind that God is completely out of our norm and that we are included in His extraordinary world.
There are many people like me and my husband who are big time fans of Sci-Fi. Not the horror stuff but the out of this world Sci-Fi. I believe that this has helped me think outside of the box when it comes to believing in the complete super-naturalness of God. The more that you understand that God is far above our realm of existence the more you respect who He is. The more you know about God, the deeper relationship will Him will be. Believe the facts and clues God has provided for us to know Him. He says that there is no excuse in believe in Him.
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
*So where does God come from? Somewhere.
*Does it matter that we don’t know? Not one drop.
*Does it matter about all that He has done for His creations so that they can be in that special place that He has prepared for us? Yes.
My word to you today….Believe!
John 20:29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Well said. Amen! Our God reigns!
(God is amazing, awesome, and way-way beyond all that we can comprehend. That’s one reason I love Him. His salvation of all who will receive His Son Jesus Christ is another.)
