The word Of The Lord For Today

Matthew 9:37-38 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

John 4:35 Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

Mark 16:15-16 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Luke 11:28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Are you too busy today? Relax, Time Out, Be Still

Ecclesiastes 5:3 A dream comes when there are many cares……..

Luke 10:38-42 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

I hate to be nosey but….what are you going to do today? Do you have a list? A million things to do….places to go….people to see….chores….shopping….fixing….building…..the lawn….the kids….church stuff….and the list can go on and on.

I hear the Lord say today to slow down…slow your mind down and slow your body down. Take some time out just to sit quietly and think calming things. Meditate on the Lord and all His goodness. Think about the blessing over your life time. Think about a smiling baby’s face or a beautiful garden of flowers. Maybe even take a short nap and close your eyes.

Jesus knew about this and when He was a man here on earth He was very busy when His ministry started….people hounded Him and He was preaching and teaching a lot, but He used to get away to rest and pray. These human bodies can only take but so much stress.

When Martha in the scripture above was so busy in her preparations Jesus called out her name twice. I can almost hear His voice as she flitted about. I am a Martha so I know just what she was doing. I’ve learned how to pre-prep now so I can enjoy my company but the point is to slow down with all the business that a day can hold.
Do you really have to do all that today? Will you be perky enough for church? Will you be in danger of falling asleep on your pastor’s sermon tomorrow?

Message for today: Don’t let Jesus have to call your name two times….all these things to do….never mind…..put your feet up and get a cup of tea and …….relax today…..come on ….you can do it!

A Good Dear John Letter

Dear John,

I first heard about your story when I was just a little girl in Sunday school. It was a story that I didn’t really understand until I got much older and thought it was a strange story. Your mom was really old, a senior citizen, when she had you and your father couldn’t speak until you were born. You were filled with the Holy Spirit in your mothers womb. You jumped around in your mom’s stomach because your unborn cousin Jesus was near you… John you were one smart… I mean anointed baby.

John you hung out in the wilderness and sustained yourself on locusts and honey and your style of dress was a outfit made of camel skins and a leather belt. John… I like the leather belt… but where did you get the camel skin? (I don’t even want to think about that one) John…you went around preaching and telling people to repent and they repented and confessed their sins to you…..wow John….how did you get them to do that?….Oh I forgot….you were filled with the Holy Spirit before you were born…..John…..I too have the Holy Spirit and have been trying to do what you do……well not eating bugs and honey and sporting the camel clothes…..but I have gotten out there sharing the good news…it’s hard though…..I will pray for more boldness like you.

And then John you baptized Jesus and you didn’t even want to do it but He made you anyway. John you are so humble….I love that about you. John you were not afraid to tell people about themselves and you sure told Herodias about herself, but she had some tricks up her sleeve and her plans worked when she had her daughter ask for your head on a platter. You know the king really liked to hear you preach too but did wrong by marrying that wicked Herodias who was the kings own brothers wife. John your story could definitely be a made for TV movie……oh……I know….you have no idea what a TV is….sorry about that.

Anyway John I just want you to know that your story truly inspires me now at my age of 59 years old. I really get it now and I understand you. You knew who Jesus was and you dedicated your life to spreading the gospel and telling people to repent of their sins. That is exactly what I’m going to do with the rest of my life John.

John….we now have a box called a television and another one called a computer. We have so much technology and can spread the gospel on a thing called the internet. I’ve even written about you on my blog today…..oh…that’s a..…never mind….just know that I’ve shared your wonderful story with many people today.

Dearest John…..I know you are having a blessed time in heaven and have been rewarded for all your prep work you did for the coming of Jesus while you were here on earth……John….I’ll see you when I get to heaven…maybe we can do lunch…..I know Jesus has prepared a feast.

In God’s Service ….Love…

Tanya… your sister in Christ

Luke 1: 11-15 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. 12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. 13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. 14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord.

Mark 1: 4-8 And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6 John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7 And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Mark 6:27-28 So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison, 28 and brought back his head on a platter. He presented it to the girl, and she gave it to her mother.

Encourage Yourself In The Lord… For Your Sake

1 Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

David in this bible story (please read the whole story…on your time of course 🙂 ) was having a really bad week. His possessions and that of his men were taken and their wives and children were kidnapped. That’s about as bad as it gets…..well not really….I think the story of Job was worse…but David’s was right up there. He and his men were so heartbroken that they cried so hard they wore themselves out. You know for big grown strong warriors to cry like that it had to be a very difficult situation. Then they got so angry that they were thinking about doing David in…..so David now had a much bigger problem than he had just an hour before….he feared for his very own life. You know this would cause me to seek God in a hurry and David did.

I’m sure David did these 3 things:

1. Thessalonians P 5:17 pray without ceasing. David was a man of God and I’m sure the Lord was always on his mind and in his heart. I personally talk to God all day about everything….even small things. Constant fellowshipping with the Lord and abiding in Him all the time throughout your day has great benefits. Keep the Lord’s name on your lips and bless Him at all times. There are two times that I don’t do this as much and that’s when I’m shopping and after I bless my food and eat it and then some…yup that’s right…shopping and eating…..I’m human OK? LOL I’m working on this though…..my point is to stay prayed up as they say…..don’t wait until you need God……pray when you aren’t needy… so when need arises…you are there….with Him already.

2. 1 Peter 5:7  casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. It has taken me many years of trials and suffering to do this right away. In my earlier years of walking with the Lord…when sudden troubles arose I would call my mom, sister, friend, neighbor, church member, deacon, pastor, the mail man…just kidding about the mail man, but I called on everybody and then called on the Lord…..but God has trained me now to go to Him first before I consult with anyone else. In fact after I finish casting my care on Him I feel I don’t have a need to talk with anyone else about the situation….I know God cares for me and will answer my prayer.

3. Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. God will give you peace of mind and you will be able to deal with any situation. When I was told by my doctor that I had cancer…I needed this peace of mind and God gave it to me.  When my surgeon walked in my room after the surgery to check on me and saw me sitting up in the bed all happy and peaceful…. he started to cry. This doctor knew I was a Christian and my God had helped me to get through this.

You are not always going to have people around you to encourage you. You may be alone in your hospital room, you may be single and home alone, and you could even be around people and still be alone….. no matter what is your status of who is surrounding your space…it doesn’t matter because you will never feel alone when you have made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life and you have maintained an ongoing dialogue with Him. You will be able to encourage yourself in an instant. Oh you do have to know something very important……what God can do for you …..And you have to have faith that He can help you. Knowing the word of God is very important in increasing your faith to believe what God has promised He can do for you.  KEEP YOUR MIND ON THE LORD AT ALL TIMES…..THINK ABOUT HIM ALL DAY LONG AND NIGHT LONG!!! SING TO HIM! WORSHIP HIM AND BLESS HIM!  LET YOU MIND BE CONSUMED BY HIM! LET HIM BUBBLE UP IN YOUR INSIDES! KEEP YOUR MIND ON HIM!

The next time something happens and you need God to help you…. say this to yourself…….. “God you have always been there for me in the past and I know you are a powerful God who created everything. You even know how many hairs are on my head and you know the exact count of every grain on sand on the earth. I know you will never leave me and that you have your heavenly angels watching over me. Lord your Holy Spirit is always strengthening me. God you watch after the sparrows and I know you watch over me so much more. Lord I need you this very hour and I praise you for what you are about to do. Father I put all my trust in you and turn all of my worries and problems over to you. Speak to my heart oh Lord and tell me what to do and I will obey. My ears are open to you…I’m listening for your voice. I will keep still until I hear from you and wait for my help and answer. You are my God and I thank you for what you are about to do for me and I give you all the Glory for all your blessing in Jesus Name I pray …..Amen”.

Message for today: This is one time that we have permission to talk to ourselves…..Encourage yourself in the Lord….tell yourself…God is good all the time……then answer yourself and say……and all the time God is good! Pat yourself on the back and say it’s going to be alright because I put God first and trust Him. See…you just encouraged yourself! I’m proud of you!

Please, please, please watch this music video on encouraging yourself in the Lord: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbEaftzaFWA&ob=av3e

What Does Jesus Mean To You?

Mathew 11:15 He who has ears, let him hear.

Revelation 2:4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.

When I first committed my life to the Lord I was on fire for  Him. I was so in love with Jesus and I told everybody who would listen to me about Him. I did anything Jesus wanted me to do and say. Every day was an adventure with Him. But then time goes on and life gets real and the trials and hardships roll in. Things get distracting and the newness of a new love gets harder to maintain. This is human nature. It takes work in any relationship to keep the flames burning bright.

I feel that God is saying to me today that as a Christians here in America we need to stoke up the embers and get the fire burning hot and the only way that can be accomplished is to pray and study God’s word and pray and pray some more.

When we first became new creations and were so in love with the Savoir, we were so humbled just to be in His presence. I believe if we stoke up these feelings, fires, humility, dedication, selflessness….just an all- out love fest for Jesus… miracles could happen in this country and spread all over the world.

All I think about… EVERDAY….is spreading the gospel…the good news! It’s on my mind 24/7. I pray for those who are out on the front lines…our missionaries and persecuted Christians. I truly believe change can happen when Christians are head over heels in love with Jesus….our first love.

You know I just want to know what Jesus means to you. Would you mind just sharing your thoughts on how much He means to you today on this blog. Let the world know ….What about Jesus……Is so great? Hope to hear from you today!

Hurt Hurt and More Hurt…Solution

Proverbs 15:13 A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit

There are many things that can cause a person to hurt:

1. You can be hurt with your own sinful actions and the realization of the state of your heart which will cause you to reach out for repentance.

2. When you are going through something like a death of a family member or friend.

3. The loss of a friendship, marriage or someone deeply hurts your feelings.

4. When you are afflicted by an illness mental or physical.

I want to share with you some of my most hurtful experiences. The first one I want to share is from my first marriage in 1970-74. When I was living in Philadelphia I found out my next door neighbor, who was my friend, was sleeping with my now ex- husband. The hurt and pain I felt was crushing…the kind that takes your breath away. Another painful time was when I was sterile for 4 years and never had any children. I went through many painful test and surgery.

I finally got pregnant and started having complications and was on bed rest for months. Then one day I started to go into labor in the 5 month. I went to the doctor and he said go home and rest because I was having a miscarriage. I never cried so hard in all my life. (By the way…miraculously my daughter was born and lived). I had a second daughter a few years later and she was born premature and after I delivered her I got one last look at her and then they took her out of my arms and whisked her off to another hospital. Hurt and many tears…..then it was the day I found out my son had cerebral palsy……I think by now you get my point on being really hurt.

Being hurt is a fact of life and it happens to everyone at some point …….but…….Jesus is there for the broken hearted. He is a heart surgeon and can repair any heart that has been broken or damaged. He can do miracles. He can turn your weeping into tears of joy.

Job 8:21 He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.

I am telling you that there has NEVER been a time that God has not been there in the midst of my hurt. I have only shared with you a few things but I have been through many many hurtful experiences and tell you the truth…God has NEVER EVER failed me! If it weren’t for Him providing healing for my heart and mind….I never would have made it!
Psalms 42:5,6 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and 6) My God……

Someone may have hurt you deeply……I think that these types of hurt last longer than a physical hurt. I have mostly forgotten the physical hurts like surgeries, labor pains, etc…..but I tell you I remember every single person who ever hurt my feelings. Only Jesus can pull up the root of that hurt so that it’s not rolling around in your heart and mind ready to take over your thoughts again. Only abiding in the Lord and He in you …can accomplish this. Give all of your hurt over to the Lord today…let Him mend your broke heart. If you heart is broken because of you… repent and turn to the Lord……if it’s broken because of others forgive and turn to the Lord…..If it’s broken because of illness pray and turn to the Lord. Turn to the Lord….Turn to the Lord!

Message for today: You don’t have to keep hurting….I know how painful it can be….there is a healer of broken hearts and He is the Great Physician…. Jesus Christ. You don’t need insurance or an appointment…call Him today and talk to Him.

“Heavenly Father, please comfort the ones who are reading this blog today and may be hurting. You know what the hurt is and how to fix it. You are the only one who knows all they are going through and you are the only one who can give them the miracle of healing they need. Please mend all the broken hearts today as they are seeking you and I pray abiding in you. Thank you for all the answered prayers. In Jesus name…Amen.”

I know I always want you to listen to a song but PLEASE listen to one of my very favorite renditions of The Talley’s singing…I Love the Lord:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmNaIzDTE2A

Wikipedia says this definition of repent intransitive verb 1: to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life 2 : to feel regret or contrition b : to change one’s mind.
I hear the Lord saying today that this is a day of repentance. If there is anything not right in our lives we should repent. Today is Sunday a holy day for Christians where we go to the sanctuary to worship the Lord….before we go we should spend time in prayer and ask the Lord to reveal our heart and repent….Wash me Lord…sanctify me…Thank you Jesus.

Also the Lord wants me to share the words of this song you know so well. He says someone needs to see these words.

What a friend we have in Jesus

What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
There will be no need for prayer—
Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.

Lastly today God wants you to know …….That He loves you so much…….Be encouraged today….be encouraged!

Do Not Fist Bump God

Malachi 1:6 “A son honors his father, and a slave his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says the LORD Almighty.

Malachi 1:14 …… and my name is to be feared among the nations.

Mathew 6:9…. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

People these days are into fist bumping each other. I still have a picture in my mind of President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama fist bumping her husband. Hey you might as well get it in your mind too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nepUoHk_Bzk

You cannot fist bump God! My meaning of this is not to get too familiar with God in a disrespectful way. When I hear people say…oh my god…..god dam you….the big guy upstairs…..it makes me sad to think people have such little respect for His Holy name. I also hear…let’s have a Holy Ghost party in here or just yelling Jesus Christ because your upset. Believe me….if God appeared to you ….you would be shaking and quaking in your boots before the Almighty God. One day every knee will bow/every person will bow before God. God is not your boo…..He is not a dude…..or you boy toy.

GOD IS HOLY! His name should be hollowed which means to be respected , honored and greatly reverenced. God is perfect…there is no evil in Him….He is divine….He is very very very Holy….He is pure.
He is the creator of the whole universe…..there is no beginning and no end to Him and He is so powerful that His mere presence would burn us up like straw…..if He yelled it would destroy us…….He could make everything disappear and bring it back again if He wanted to……He can create many other universes and beings and He probably has.

My point is…..do you realize who we are dealing with here? I may not have given the best examples but I tell you……when I go into some of the deepest times I’ve had in prayer with God I have seen some things and have felt some things that have taken my breath away and I tell you….God is unbelievable!!!!! The things I have experienced is things that God has revealed in the bible like what you read in Ezekiel or Revelation….I just experience it in visions and dreams with God through the power of the Holy spirit making it a personal experience for me.

God is nothing to play with at all. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is Holy and their names should be reverenced by all who speak it. You know God doesn’t need me to defend His name but I love Him so much and not 100%… but I do understand enough about Him to know He is Holy and should be respected and worshiped.

Message for today: Aretha Franklin sang about what it means to her….Rodney Dangerfield begged people for it…but God is the only one who truly deserves it!! All praises be to the Name of The Most High God!

Angels Angels Everywhere

Luke 22:39-43 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. 40 On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” 41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.

An angel is a being that God created to minister to others for Him. The meaning of minister is one who takes care of another person by means of comforting or consoling them, protecting them and doing anything that they are asked to do for that person. It requires the action of doing some task for another which will involve taking care of their personal need or it may be as simple as just spending time with them. Minister is a positive word and has good motives behind it. An example of this would be your pastor who ministers to your spiritual needs….that’s why he is called a minister. Anyone can minister to another person.

This morning when I was praying about what God wanted me to share with you I saw many, many angels coming down from heaven and going back up. It was like a highway for angels. In the scripture above Jesus was perhaps emotionally at the most difficult time on His journey to the cross. He was praying so hard to His Father….the only one that could help Him (hint hint…that goes for us to) that He was physically weak. God sent an angel from heaven to minister strength to Him.

Luke 4:10 For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully;

Hebrews 1:14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Psalms 91:11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

Now everybody is going to die one day and if you are a Christian there are benefits. If it’s you time to die you will because everyone has that time planned for them and God knows when it is. If it’s not your time and you get into trouble God will send His angel to protect and help you. If you have trouble God will send His angels to help you out in response to your prayers. Have you ever heard stories like a child falling out of a window and lived or someone having a car accident and nobody could find them down in the ravine and they lived after being lost for over a week…..angels.

Isn’t it amazing how God has provided all this help for us and yet we still worry about everything. God even told us in His word not to be anxious…..Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Someone out there is worrying about stuff…..God has got your back!! Do what it says in the scripture above. The Holy Spirit of God is there for you and angels are all around you. You are going to be OK!

Massage for today: God created the angels and they are at His beckon call and one of their jobs is to take care of you at His command. Pray…ask your Father in heaven for His help and comfort.
