Resurrection Sunday Thoughts

resurrection sunday best

This true meaning of Resurrection day is:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus torture, death and resurrection services that we celebrate every April is a blessing because it’s a blessing to reflect on the details of this love provoked set of life changing events for the world. But I have a different way that I celebrate it.

This is my opinion and practice and I’m not pushing anyone to do what I do or I think how I think. I celebrate Jesus sacrificial act a few times a week by having communion by myself. I ask God to forgive me of any wrong doing…reflect with scripture and meditate on the course of events. Then I have Juice and bread. I also thank Jesus daily for what He did for me. I thank God for sending His Son to die for my sins.

The more I walk with God…the more grateful I am to Him for creating me, loving me and saving me. The wonder of who God is drives me to think of His deep love for me and why he was motivated to do what He did for me.

You know the other day I was thinking about the Holiness of God and I could not believe that He in all of His glory would humble Himself and allow Himself to be reduced to a human being. To have a human woman take care of Him, to have His diaper changed, to be carried around, and to be taught by human parents. God… the Supernatural Highest supreme being in the entire universe was a man!!!! Then He allowed sinful men to do unspeakable things to Him! He did this for me and for anyone who will believe in His son Jesus.   This is something to celebrate every single day! I’m celebrating this in my sanctified soul right now!!!!! I was dead in my sin and now I’m alive in Jesus! I was lost and now am found! I have an eternal life! Praise the Lord!!!

resurrection sunday for saving me

A few years ago Hollywood came out with a movie called the Passion of Christ…which was a graphic dramatization of the events surrounding Christ death and resurrection. It was very powerful and as I left the theater I couldn’t speak. In fact everyone in the theater was silent as they were walking out.  I feel that way every time I read the crucifixion details in the bible….there’s no difference because the Holy Spirit makes it that real to me.   But these events also make something else real in my heart.. and that is how much God loves His creations. Can Hollywood produce that? The Holy Spirit can!!! Jesus death and resurrection means love to me….I see love.

This is the deal…..God is Holy… God is love… and God is a Spirit. We can’t understand these incredible three things because we are human…but the Holy Spirit can and does enlightens us. Now this is the intriguing part that’s hard for us to get….God’s Holiness is what makes it impossible for us to be in front of God physically. He is way too pure for us. This is what people don’t get. He didn’t make Himself pure…He just is. The Glory in Him would burn anyone up in less than a billionth of a second. But because of His great love for us He had Jesus take on human form and sacrifice Himself to remove all original sin from humanity for anyone who would believe in Jesus Christ. Without Jesus….no one could ever stand before Holy God because they would be impure and in need of a blood offering.

resurrection sunday very much

Thank you Jesus!

Jesus the Lamb of God was the blood offering for us. Jesus blood was required!!!!!!!! No other blood! There is NO…I say NO other way to see God face to face when your human life has ended!!!! This is what Resurrection day celebration is all about! This is why I celebrate this as often as I can!! I’m sooooo grateful!!!!! This is the big picture!! You cannot separate the Holiness of God and this event….they are connected.

So Jesus…I get down on my knees and then I fall on my face before you. With your loving sacrificial act in my heart and mind… I kiss your feet and say…thank you so much for what you did for me! Thank you for your obedience to your Father. It saved my life!!! I can’t wait to be with you forever!!! Until then I will keep praying for others. I will write my blog and pray that someone who has not heard of your good news for their lives will read this blog and believe in you.

Easter Sunday or Resurrection Sunday?

Let’s start with the word…Easter!

I will no longer be calling Resurrection day… “Easter” Sunday. In researching information for a Resurrection Sunday message for my blog I found out new information to me… that Easter is a pagan holiday name for the goddess of spring time named “Eastre or Eostre” which is celebrated on…you guessed it…Easter Sunday. This goddess loved rabbits and eggs were part of the spring celebration representing fertility. This is new to me and this information will change my thinking and words I used from this day forward.

I do celebrate Resurrection Sunday in church and later on we have dinner with all the trimmings with our family and friends. I know the Lord has no problem with that because He knows the truth of my heart and mind that I’m celebrating Him!

So what about the Chocolate candy, peeps, and baskets? When I was raising my 6 kids…we had some candy… but we were careful to pick out general kind of stuff. We didn’t do the eggs…but my mom would always have the egg dying over her house with my kids although she knew my thoughts on the matter. I didn’t let that be an issue because I loved my mom and she had fun doing that with them. I knew God was not going to get my mom for boiling eggs. My mom loved the Lord very much.

You have to be careful with your kids so they don’t feel totally different from what’s going on around them.  As Christian parents… it was our duty to teach our children the truth of God’s word so these kinds of things don’t influence them from being led astray from the real reason for our Resurrection Sunday celebration.

RESSURRECTION DAY parent teaching

We have to teach our children and grandchildren what Resurrection Day is really about and that it is more than the clothes, candy and baskets.

Back then Easter basket, Easter clothes, Easter eggs and Easter bunny was in my vocabulary and now it’s not. You live and learn and grow. Is God going to hold the past against me? No way…as we grow in knowledge and truth we learn and move on continuing to please our God.

So I will rejoice and celebrate Resurrection Sunday….formally known as Easter Sunday to me….with all the respect and seriousness this special refection of God love and forgiveness deserves. Amen!
