In Verse 20 it says: All these I have kept,” the young man said to Jesus…..”What do I lack? Really? He said he was keeping the commandments…all of them! Was he trying to impress Jesus with that foolishness? Didn’t he realize who He was talking to? The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!!! The thing He should have done was to fall on his knees and beg Jesus for mercy for His evil soul!!!!!!!

Do you know there is NOTHING that we can do to impress God at all? When I first became a committed Christian…I tried hard to impress God. Look God… I’m in church today. Look God… I’m helping people. Oh God look…I’m feeding the poor. God I’m doing lots of good things for you! God…aren’t you proud of me? Thank God for the Holy Spirit who has broken this thing down to me over the years? His instruction and teachings have been life changing for me. I’ve also had plenty of good godly trials and testing’s that have straightened me right up over time.

Because of the low self image I had as a child…I tried to please/impress everyone my whole life and so I guess I thought I needed to impress God also…..but all that did was take away His glory from Him.  That made me feel bad  because I was ashamed of being prideful.   We just can’t impress God!!! He’s not impressed by anything we do or anything we have.  God Himself is the most impressive being in the universe so  how can we possibly impress Him?  ( But we can please Him though!!)

Peter tried to impress in Jesus by using his little security guard skills to protect Him.

John 18:10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. NIV

What was he thinking? Really Peter?   Were you really going to impress folks all by yourself and defend Jesus against a gang of men who came to capture Him. It wasn’t impressive at all…it was…foolish!

DUH!!  You know… I was going to say…men!    A woman wouldn’t have done that…we would have tried to talk these men out of it LOL! But I’ll step away from that one!

What does move God is our obedience, our forgiveness and our love for one another. The most powerful thing we can ever do to touch Gods heart is……drum roll here….is to believe in His Son Jesus Christ. God is also moved by our worship of Him.  So… God can have reactions to things we do…but I believe He draws a blank if we try to impress Him…and  I think He would say something like…speak to the hand… I’m not impressed!… kind of thing.  Well really …that’s what I would say not God.  God would  just tell the Holy Spirit to correct us and we would probably get a trial to bring the point home.

I can tell you from my experience….IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO BE VERY HUMBLE IN DEALING WITH THE LORD! This will serve you very well in your walk with God!   Now here is a very spiritual statement…. We are not all that and a bag of chips because we’re God’s child!!!  Yes we are heirs to the throne but we must know our place! I would do anything for my children…but if they thought they were all that with me….that mothering would come out in me!   I have personally seen God bring men down who tried to impress Him…..and I want to add that He does this out of love because the results are life saving and life changing….for our present and for our future with Him.

I personally have learned to put my face into the floor (humble myself) in my walk with God. (Learn to be prostrate in your spirit) There are times I feel the devil encouraging me to stand up….you know the pride thing…look what I’m doing thing….but I feel those thorns and I go…”ouch ouch!” and I get myself back down on that ground in humble adoration and respect for my Lord and Savior.

Satan did try to impress God and you see where that got Him and he tries to get us to do that too so that God will be very ticked off with us. He does get the non-Christian to act impressively and say they don’t need God for eternal life and as a result they don’t get into heaven.

I’m sharing this information today because I want Gods very very best for you. You don’t have to impress God because Jesus did all the impressing for all of us…… on that cross!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How to pray if you are a Christian

Sometimes we need a little refresher course on how to pray. Prayer is not complicated…but there is a way to pray that the bible reveals to us. Jesus even spoke of it when He was down here on earth. I talk to God all day long and I talk to Him like I’m standing right by Him.  He accepts me talking to Him in a more familiar way because we can have that kind of relationship with Him… but I don’t always do that. For example…I’ll say…”God…do you know how much I love you?  You’re  the greatest Jesus.  Thank you for that parking space…I was so tired.”

Most of the time I talk to God like Jesus told us to.  It’s more formal and addresses Him with all the respect He deserves. Like….” Heavenly Father…I praise your Holy name….I thank you for all you’ve done for me. My daughter needs a healing in her body. I thank you for the victory…In Jesus name.

The key here is to….pray! Daily! Prayer should be as natural as breathing. . If you’re a Christian…pray! Don’t save it for going to church on Sunday or special times.  If  you know you have to eat then you should know you have to pray. Both are nourishment for the body.

Here are some helpful hints and scriptures:

1. In order to talk to God so that God hears your prayers you must be right with God. There is NO getting around this at all!!!!! If your heart ain’t clear…He don’t hear!

2. You must believe that God can and will answer your prayer. You must have faith. If you believe you will receive!

3. In EVERY situation Pray (talk to God), tell Him your need and then thank God for all He’s done for you and for what He will do for you. State you case and ask in faith!

4. Ask all prayer request in Jesus name. Depend on His fame and ask in His name!
5. Remember to give God all the praise. Give God all the glory and you’ll have a story.

How to pray if you are not a Christian

1. You can talk to the Lord but you have a limit on what He needs to hear from you. You are limited to asking for mercy. Lord have mercy before I’m put in the hearse-see!!!

2. There is one prayer that God will hear from the non-Christian. A prayer in which you ask the Lord for forgiveness…you repent of your sinful ways and believe in Jesus Christ. If You Remember Jesus….He’ll remember you!!!!

 

Romans 10:13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Luke 23:40-43 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

We must take time throughout our day to talk to the Lord. This is for our benefit so that we can keep our mind on Jesus. This helps us to stay very focused and to walk with God. It will build our relationship up to the point where He is our very best friend. We will feel so much closer to the Lord and will have a stronger walk with God.

Does God REALLY love me?

heart jesus loves meThere was a time that I didn’t know how much God loved me.
I wasn’t’ sure of His love for me at all. I couldn’t see it or feel it.
Today when I was praying I was feeling His love so heavily.
I asked myself…”how do I really know that God loves me?”


Of course we know because the bible says He loves us.
But it is way deeper than that.

The first reason I know God loves me is because the more that I have studied about God and found out who He really is…the more that knowledge became real in my spirit and revealed truth to me!!!!!  The power of the Holy Spirit supernaturally confirmed this directly to me!!  God has a supernatural way that He communicates with me. I know that I know!

So for me….the more knowledge that I know about God…the more I feel His love and why He let Jesus do what He did for me!

The second reason I know God loves me is because of all the past miracles He did for me and also for the many victories he’s given me.
If I’m a Christian and I don’t know how much God loves I will faint…stumble….and doubt in His abilities to see me safely through my life. I WILL BE A VERY WEAK CHRISTIAN!

Don’t dummy down God.  Don’t make Him less than what He is.  Don’t forget about His judgment!  Don’t forget His holiness!  As we are busy going about our earthly life…it’s very easy to put God in a box and leave Him there… thinking we don’t have to really deal with Him until we die.

I heard Dr. John Vernon McGee an ordained Presbyterian minister say that people think God is some old Santa Claus looking guy with long white hair and beard who has no teeth and no more power or control over anything anymore.  Well… let folks keep thinking that if they want to!!!!!!!

Psalms 145:3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.

We need to be thinking about God and His righteous judgment every day.  This is why we are here on earth.  This is the testing grounds…the molding ground… the preparation grounds…the bringing glory to God grounds…and the judgment grounds.  Are we trying to impress God now?  I am!!  What we do now matters it helps God decides  our place in His kingdom.  How we feel about God now matters.  If you concentrate on this earth you will be earthly minded….If you concentrate on God you will show Him that you respect his authority and that He matters the most in your life!

Don’t dummy God down to our level…we must come up to His level through the power of the Holy Spirit through the blood of Jesus Christ!!!!!

Lift up your daily thoughts and opinion about God.  This is what praise and worship is for.

See God as… Him on His throne ruling over the galaxies….and ruling over the earth.

Think about His holiness, His righteousness and His judgment and where you fit in…in the scheme of this.

Bring the knowledge of the power and authority of God into your mind by feasting and meditating on His word.

There is a slang term that kids use and that is….” You betta recognize”!!!!!!!!!!

When you die you will be judged immediately!!!!!!!

When you get into heaven you will be rewarded for your earthly deeds and God will judge you on what you’ve done for Him.

Fear the Lord!  Respect His authority!  Go ahead….put Him on a pedestal!   Worship the ground He walks on.

You will be judged!

I’m missing many body parts.  I’m missing ovaries, uterus, 1 breast, many teeth and some of my hair.  I pray that I can keep what’s left… LOL! Psalm 139:13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

The rest of me that’s left is wrinkling, shrinking, drying out and not functioning properly.  I must sound like a hot mess to you…but I tell you this….this outward wo-man might be decaying, but my inner man is being renewed every day!  Thank God for the daily renewal of my spirit!!!

2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. WOW!!!

I’ve suffered with so many physical ailments including the big C…cancer.  I’m still suffering right now physically from other illnesses.  Some days are extremely difficult for me…but I tell you one thing that’s very important to share with you….”IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL!!!!!!!” This means that no matter if my body is mutilated, broken, falling apart and deteriorating…my soul is 100% totally well!!!!  It also means that if things in my life are very difficult or tragic…I’m in the hands of my Savior.

I don’t contain a soul…I AM a soul.  I have a body and a spirit too.   My soul is who I am and everything in my soul is well ( because of Jesus) no matter what happens to me and around me!!!   Isn’t that the greatest news?

My soul is WELL because:

  1. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and I’m saved.
  2. The Holy Spirit lives inside of me helping me 24/7.
  3. I’m so blessed regardless of my situation.
  4. My name is written in the Lambs book of life.
  5. I’m God’s adopted child.
  6. I’m destined for heaven.
  7. God loves me so much!

***Psalms 121:7  The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.***

See you don’t have to worry about your soul!!!!!!!

I experience peace in my soul in the midst of my suffering!  I’m not saying here that life doesn’t hurt …I’m talking about my soul that is me…the total makeup of the human being that I am.   If I lived how my body really feels… I would never get out of the bed in the morning.  There have been many days though when I’ve been too sick to get out of the bed and even then it is still well with my soul.

I was not always this way.  Before I got saved and even in the early years of my commitment to the Lord…I doubted God a lot.  I didn’t know what God could do for me in the midst of my difficult circumstances.  I didn’t understand God’s ways at all.  I cried a lot over everything.  I had lots of pity parties!!  I was a spiritual mess!

But the more I got to know God…the more that I learned:

  1. To walk with God and trust in Him.
  2. That the more I understood that I don’t understand God… I really was understanding His ways….Huh? Read this slower LOL!
  3. That God’s motives towards me are 100%.
  4.  That God has His own plans or agenda for me!!!!!
  5. That God has super powers and angels and He will use them to help and protect me!
  6. That trials are a natural part of a Christian’s life.  Suffering teaches us patience and also shows us many victories and miracles and that brings glory to God. In other words…God shows up and shows out!!!
  7. That studying the bible helps me to learn that God is trustworthy, Jesus gives peace of mind and that the Holy Spirit is my helper.

This old body?  Huh!….Did you know when we get to heaven….we are going to have a glorified supernatural body.  So I won’t need my missing parts.  I’ll never be sick again.  I love this song:

In the light of His glory and grace

Now don’t get me wrong…I’m not treating my body all willy nilly!  I take care of it as best I can.  You know checkups and all.  I’m just saying that I make sure my spiritual needs and my soul are well fed and taken care of too.

Make sure you feed your soul with good spiritual food from God’s word!

If you have experienced a terrible tragedy like the man who wrote “It Is Well With My Soul”…my heart goes out to you!! Horatio Spafford who composed this song after the terrible tragedy of the death of his 4 daughters, understood that although gut wrenching loss can occur in life your soul can still be ok because of God’s amazing grace.  Before his four daughters died, He lost most of his investments due to the great fire of Chicago.  After the loss of his daughters he had 3 more children, but tragically their son died at the age of 4. “When you have Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and you have put God first in your life…God will be there to support you and bring you through anything that you may suffer.”  Your mind can feel restless and emotional and your heart can really ache bad, but your soul can be well because of God’s amazing grace and the loving help and comfort from the Holy Spirit.  The way God does this in us is unexplainable.  The result is amazing!!!  Reach out and take the Lords hand today and it WILL be well with your soul.

Father God…please bring comfort to all those who need it today!  In Jesus name…Amen!

Oh how He loves you and me

We all know why Jesus did what He did…but do we know at what cost to Himself emotionally?

Jesus prayed to His Father before He was crucified…..

Like 22: 41-44 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. 44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Mathew 26:36-39   Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

A few things that really pulled at my heart:

  1. Jesus was in such ANGUISH that an angel had to come down from heaven to strengthen Him.  He needed supernatural help for Himself, for His heart…His soul…and His strength.  Why?
  2. He prayed with every bit of strength He had in His body.
  3. He prayed so hard that He was probably dehydrated and very very weak from His body releasing  great amounts of sweat to the point that it looked as thick as blood.
  4. In the past Jesus showed emotions like anger, disappointment, compassion, love and now being exceeding sorrowful to death.  This was a very powerful emotional state that Jesus was in. Why?
  5. Jesus….”FELL on His face!  That was a powerful show of emotions for a man to display.

Sin is rebellion against God!

Jesus was faced with seeing and experiencing the nastiest, vilest, most disgusting, horrible, horrific, horrendous, immoral, sadistic, evil, deviant behavior ever to be done by all humanity.  He was going to carry every sin onto Himself!!!  When we see stuff on TV that’s horrible like what that man who held those 3 young girls captive and tortured them for all those years and what happened in the killing field of the Sierra Leone…all this and much more… Jesus took on for all humanity/the world.

Jesus also had to deal with having His Father turn away from Him because Holy Father God could NOT look upon…”sin” that was going to inhabit Jesus even if it was going to be briefly.

Writing these things this way seems to bring this down to my understanding and does not show the intensity and seriousness of this horrible event in Jesus Life.

What I think Jesus may have thought before His crucifixion:

My sacrificial time is almost here.  This is going to be so difficult to handle in this human form.  I must talk to my Father….I need to pray right now.  Let me get a few of those I trust to go with me and pray.

“Peter…brothers …come with me to pray.  I’m really feeling extremely burdened.  Wait here while I go over there to pray for a while.”

O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Father…what you have asked of me is so very hard to do.  I understand about your Holiness.  I know why I’m doing this and I’m OK with it because I know that it must be done.  It was our plan from the beginning.  I agreed to it because I wanted to be obedient and because of my heart and love that I have for your creations.  The thought of experiencing mankinds sin is horrifying to me.  My heart breaks to see the ugliness of it all Father.  My Father…I know if it was another way you would spare me of this.

I know that there are no other options.  I’m your one and only Son and I promise you that I will do this.  I will do anything to please you because I love you so much.  But Father…oh Father…. (Jesus is weakening because of the heavy anguish because He was human)  I need for you to strengthen me…please Father Please!!!!  I can barely breathe!  My heart is racing!  I can’t even stand up right now!  Oh my Father. (God sends an angel to increase His stamina)  Oh thank you Father!  Thank you

Father all the berating and all the severe beatings and torture I endured…. was all for them!!  I let them treat me like a worthless piece of trash because I know that what satan and all the evilness that he had planned for them is going to be defeated.  I know what the results are going to be for all my suffering.

Father….the thing that is the hardest pill for me to swallow is…..you having to turn away from me because of the sin I will bear for them.    I’m so deeply sorrowful about this.  Father…oh Father…if it be possible….if only it didn’t have to happen this way.   I love you so my Father that even the thought of one second away from your presence grieves me so.  Are you positive there is no other way to remove their original from them?  Father…I will do anything for you and I will do this because it is your will.  Your love for the world is so great that you would allow me your own Son who you are pleased with to go through this.  Oh my Father…I hope they will understand what you have done for them.  I hope they will understand that I’m letting them do this to me because I love them also so so much!!!!  Will they remember this?  Will they tell others?  Father…thank you for all that you have done to help me through my earthly ministry.  I love you Father!

This scenario is only my thoughts and not a anything more.  Jesus was human and had feeling.  We think of Him as coming to earth like Superman…but He was…human.  I cried as I thought of these things I wrote.  I don’t want to ever forget what my Jesus did for me.  I think about it every day!!  Jesus commanded that we celebrated Holy Communion in remembrance of His act of mercy and love towards us.  For me every day is Easter.   We are coming to a special day that we celebrate Jesus Christ death and resurrection.   Let’s also make sure that we keep the spiritual significance that this Christian holiday deserves and steer clear of all unimportant things pertaining to it.  Worthy is the Lamb of God our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

I’m 61 years old and at this point in I’ve looked back on my life and noticed I’ve learned some things along the way and I would like to share it with you today.  God is working in me and it’s been a series of a trial/victory/trial/victory/trial/victory pattern.  This pattern helps us to grow in the Lord.

This is an amazing mystery in how God uses trials to purify us, change us, grow us, put wisdom in us, prune us, reduce us, build us up…higher…higher…another pruning…allow us to walk in Him…let us feel abandoned, fills us up, anoint us, pour into us, tries us hard….harder…harder still…increase us, ministers to us, test us…retest us all while comforting us, watching over us, guiding us and loving us ever so tenderly.

As a woman who has been tested and still being tested a lot… I have a few things that in looking back… I noticed what I need to watch out for or do in my spiritual life that has helped me over the years:

  1. The biggest setbacks happen when I’ve been sick or physically too tired.  This is when satan does his “GREATEST” attacks on me.
  2. The devil loves to get in the middle of my marriage and kids.  I like to repeat my wedding vows to myself often.  It helps me stay focused.  I see my kids as my first opportunity in evangelism.  I need to set an example.
  3. My prayer life is ALWAYS under attack and I should stay alert.
  4. I need to not be so needy.  Everyone can’t meet all my emotional needs all the time….only God can do that!
  5. I need to walk in the spirit as much as possible.
  6. Singing and music helps a lot to calm me down and encourage me.
  7. I need the word of God daily!  It’s like medicine for my soul.
  8. I found out that stress is bad for me.
  9. I need time for myself.
  10. I need to learn to encourage myself in the Lord very often!
  11. I have a favorite scripture that’s my theme for my life.  Everyone should have one!  Mine is 1 Peter 5:7 and Proverb 3:5-6.
  12. I’ve learned that everyone may not want to be to me… all that I need them to be in my life… to make me happy, complete or be a best friend to me.  I need to be complete in my Savior.
  13. I’ve learned that my best friend is Jesus every second of my life.
  14. I try to stay in this second…minute…hour…day with God and trust Him.  I need God so much and I don’t go way ahead of Him because that only brings on worry and fear.  His mercies are new everyday…I live in that!
  15. I need to manage my time well.  I do what I can do and try not to go beyond that.
  16. I’ve learned to say no!… when I have to and have learned not to feel guilty.
  17. I don’t pick myself apart and I try not to judge myself.  God through the power of Holy Spirit will show me and guide me in my areas of weakness.
  18. I don’t have to please everyone all the time.  That is so much pressure on my back that can weigh me down to the ground for sure.
  19. Lots of little things are the same as a big trial in my life.  Watch out for many little annoying distractions.
  20. I try to keep my emotions in check because they can lie to me sometimes and can get out of control.
  21. I think about heaven…my eternal home a lot.  It helps me to press my way through the many trials I have now. 
  22. I also think about all the power that is in the name of Jesus….and the super naturalness of God.
  23. I work on my doubts in God’s ability to bring me through ANY situation.  I know doubt is really bad for my life.
  24. Sin is a prayer blocker for sure.  I know I’m not immune from it.
  25. I dwell on past miracles that God has done for me.  It keeps hopeful in my heart and mind.
  26. I try to keep the negative things/ thoughts out of my space.  I try to watch happy and positive things on TV…be around positive spiritual people and I try to keep my house whole in a comforting relaxing atmosphere for me and my family,.
  27. I pray about everything!
  28. I take care of my body as much as I can.  I make sure to get regular checkups for everything and I make sure to take supplements as needed such as B-12, vitamin D3 and anything else that will keep this body in peak form.
  29. I start the day talking to God; prayer with my husband and scripture reading.
  30. I talk to God all day about everything.  It’s me and Him!  I find that the more that He’s involved with my day…the better I can get through it.
  31. I try to be like Christ….…and my life needs to be less about me and much more of Christ!
  32. My whole life is all about God!!!!!!!!!!  I’m His creation and this is His universe!  I am to bring Him glory with my life.  Not me…but Him!
  33. I have come to realize in a very deep way that God loves me so much and His motives for the success in my life is 100% pure and perfect.  He is not going to make any mistakes with me because….HE LOVES ME SO!!!!!!!!
  34. I try to serve others no matter how tired or weak I feel.
  35. I tell God how much I love Him constantly.  I give Him lot of praise and I worship Him until I have no strength left.  I tell you….He loves this and will show you His “Shekinah Glory” at times.

Speak up…go out on a limb for Jesus!

Colossians 4:5-6 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Mathew 28:19  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

God speaks I listen and tell you that God wants us to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Let’s remember to look for people today…start a general conversation and then let the Holy Spirit ease you into a conversation about the Lord.  Be wise…be smart and be gentle.  Don’t push and you may even just have to let your light shine bright for the Savior.

Make sure your own life is very salty and full of the power and anointing of God. Jude 1:20-23  But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

Psalms 71:23 My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you– I whom you have delivered.

James 5:13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.

Ephesians 5:19  speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,

Psalm 150:1-6

  Praise the Lord.

Praise God in his sanctuary;

There are many scriptures about singing and music in the bible.

I love music so much.  Music is very powerful!!!  Remember how people have reacted to music with Elvis, the Beatles, and Michael Jackson…etc.  People went into frenzies because of their music.  I have reacted in dramatic ways because of certain forms of music.  Growing up I was moved by sounds coming from Motown’s artist and from show tunes, hymns and classical music.  But there are two forms of music that brings me to massive tears sometimes….and that is gospel, Christian, and classical music.

Sometimes just the music moves me and other times it’s the words combined with the music.  There is one song however that just brings me to massive tears that can last for hours and it’s a song called None but the righteous by Bishop Paul S Morton Sr. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY3rdUioIAA This song may not affect you that way because everybody has their own personal sensitive spot in their heart and soul.  But this song makes me think how blessed I am to be saved and the singer vamps…”I can’t wait to see His face and ask this question “don’t you want to see Him?”  Sometimes I play this song before I pray and it makes me go into very deep intercession for souls.  Sometimes I play it when I want to just worship the Lord and I cry and tell Him how I can’t wait to see Him.

There are times in church that singing songs of praise will make the tears fall from my eyes.  Sometimes when I sing I cry from a great connection and anointing with the music.  Yes music is an incredible mystery that’s a gift from God.  I’ve even heard music from the Lord in my prayer time.  It has only happened once… but was so powerful that I never forget it.  I can’t even describe it to you except to say it was…”powerful” and yet it’s probably something God allowed me to hear just for me because I was seeking Him so and it may not actually be heavens music.

Why did God give us music and why is it important in our worship?

Music can touch the soul in a way that is unique and mysterious.  God created it and connected it to our senses and emotions.  When we praise God through this form of worship…A unique connection is made between us and the creator and we bond through our heart, mind, soul and emotions.  At that moment there is no one if front of God in our lives!!!  All our focus is on Him and Him alone.  And in return….He is connected to us as He inhabits our praise because we drew Him in with our adoration and worship.  When I sing…for me it’s the same thing as my prayer times because I’m so connected to Him.  Sometimes after I sing a solo in church…I’m so in my spiritual zone that I have to excuse myself and go next door to another room in my church just to… be still my heart.

I could write pages on what music does to me and how we worship the Lord through it but I hope I’ve given you a little insight on music and God.

Singing to the Lord:

  1. Helps me focus on God.
  2. Heals my body and soul.
  3. Diminishes my trouble.  
  4. Makes me happy.
  5. Sends a clear message to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit that I’m grateful everything they have, are doing and will do for me.
  6. It Lets God take notice of me because I’m calling His name.
  7. It Lets God know how exalted He is in my life.

Music comes from your heart…you don’t even have to have a good singing voice….you can even be deaf.  You can use sign language to sing.  What really matters is… who your praise is directed at and the source of your praise which is your heart and soul.  The Holy Spirit is the BEST music instructor and teacher.  Ask Him to help you.

If your church sings hymns…sing them from the depths of your heart and don’t just sing page 465 because you are instructed in the bulletin to do so.  My best advice is to sing when you are alone with God!!!!  Sing the song “Holy Holy Holy”.  You can even let the Holy Spirit help you to make up words and music to a song…and you will be shocked at this incredible experience.  Make up a song  about telling God you love Him.  You will be so blessed.  This blog is getting really long so I better try to stop here!  Sing…make music to the Lord all ye saint’s of God!!!!
