God doesn’t have voicemail

Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

God definitely doesn’t have voicemail. When you speak to Him…you speak directly to Him and He hears your prayers right away. He doesn’t put you off when you call upon Him.

You can talk to God anytime of the day or night for any reason whatsoever! You will always have access to God and your calls will never go to voicemail because God is supernatural and can hear and answer every persons prayers at the same time.
This information about God is a lot to absorb but it’s true. Ephesians 2:18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Jesus made this possible for us because of His sacrifice and the Holy Spirit makes the connection for us.

The Lord never put us off…ever! He’s very attentive to us. Sometimes He speaks in a quiet voice or He’ll speak to us through His word and there are times He’s silent for our personal growth…but He never just ignores us or lets our cries go to voicemail. The Holy Spirit that indwells in us is our guarantee that He hears us at all times.

We are so blessed and I sometimes think we forget just how blessed these little human beings from earth who have been adopted into the family of the most powerful being in the whole universe really are. I am blessed…come on…say it with me….”I am blessed!”

I want to encourage someone out there today to know that … God has heard your prayers!!!!! God knows who you are… where you are and has stayed in constant contact with you and He ask that you keep talking to Him and trusting Him. He said to tell you that He never dismisses your calls and His silence means He heard and is working out things on your behalf. He said He’s knows what you’re going to say to Him before you speak or even think it. He said to come to Him boldly because He is your Father who loves you very much and that as His child you have the privilege of being able to speak to Him at all times for any reason.

Message for today: God hears and responds to your communication with Him. He doesn’t have….voicemail!

How is your fear of the Lord today? Do you have total reverence for the Lord your God? Are you in awe of His greatness, power and glory as well as His wrath and anger? If your answer is yes….I’ve got some great news for you!!

You will have wisdom, knowledge, life, confidence and you will lack nothing. I’m not making this up! Psalms 34:9 Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.

When I read the word this morning and meditated on this scripture…I was like…wow! I had to reread it a few times and let it get into my spirit. This is a verse you need to hide in your heart and reflect on when you are stressed about anything in your life.

Your fear of God has you in total awe and reverence for His majesty and glory.

Fear of the Lord is that you think God is the greatest and the most powerful being in the entire universe. Fear of the Lord means that you believe that God is so holy that He cannot stand or look upon anything unjust or sinful. Your fear of God has you in total awe and reverence for His majesty and glory. Because of your fear of the Lord you respect His total authority over your life.

“When you fear God….you give God the OK to take charge over everything in your life and you trust Him to make wise decisions for you”

Fear has a negative connotation in this world we live in…but in God’s kingdom…it is a powerful word that has our blessings attached to it. Let’s embrace this word fear and put it in its proper place in our spiritual life and receive our full provisions for our lives from the Lord.

Proverbs 14:26 He who fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge.

Live long and prosper

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. KJV

3 John 1:2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. NIV

As I have stated in previous blogs…I’m a SYFY/science fiction fan and a major Star Trek fan. In the series of Star Trek there was a race of people called Vulcans and one of the main characters on the show was Mr. Spock who was a Vulcan. On His planet…when departing company they would raise their hand and give a V sign with their fingers which the meant…”Live long and prosper”. I would love to do this in our world but I think people would look at me like I was crazy!

I do want people to live long and prosper.  I wish this on you who are reading this blog today!! I live with a chronic illness and I wish everyone would say this to me all day every day. It would make me feel better just to hear those words. I do think of these words to myself though. To greet someone… like in the scripture verse above and say….”my good friend I know that it is so well with your soul and I pray that your health would be good as good as your soul is!”….would be such a great greeting to hear on a regular basis.

Prosper in this biblical sense means to be well spiritually. In the secular sense it means to be well of financially. The purpose that it’s spoken of in this text is spiritually. If you are prospering spiritually…that is the greatest blessing you can have.

Mathew 6:33 But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

 If you put the Lord first…everything you need…the Lord will provide so you will prosper. The important point here is that your soul needs to prosper by being in that right place with God through:

1. Obedience to God
2. Prayer and walking with God
3. Bible study and hiding the word in your heart.
 4. 1 Peter 1:16 …Be ye holy; for I am holy.
5. Pray this: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalms 51:10

I want you to live long and prosper because the longer you live the wiser and more mature in the Lord you are and the world needs a bright light in this dark world. Your light will shine and because of the wisdom you can impart in other people’s lives.   You will be such a blessing in the kingdom of God!!

Does God want us to be in good health? Absolutely!  I want good health too but….if my soul is prospering my health won’t be an issue because my soul is mightier that my health. My well soul and right relationship with the Lord has seen me through every storm and trial in my life. I do pray for good health and I’m thankful for the health I have because things could be worse. My husband and I have made some big changes in our life styles pertaining to our health because we want to give our aging bodies a better outcome by slowing down or preventing physical problems that have and can develop with age.

As far as my soul prospering…it is! Praise the Lord ! My secret is…..I keep my eyes on the Lord!!! I focus on Jesus! I keep my mind on Him! I meditate on the scriptures and remember the Holy Spirits presence in me! I also give my time, talent and treasure to the Lord. In this way…my soul is sure to…prosper.

Message for today: Live Long and prosper in your spirit my brothers and sister in Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Friday…the day Jesus cried out to you

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

Mathew 27:45-46 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. 46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).

Today is what is called by Christians…Good Friday and that’s a very blessed name to call this Holy day. This is the day that my brother…God’s only Son gave His life for you and me. Without this very special day I wouldn’t be sitting here so happy in my spirit about the hope I have in my present life and my eternal future.

When Jesus was hanging on that cross He said something that really sends chills up my spine when I hear it. He didn’t just say it…He yelled it loud and clear for all the world to hear. He said…“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” This was a prayer that Jesus prayed and He yelled it out loudly. Why did He cry this out loud? He prayed many times before and was it ever recorded that He yelled out to His Father in this way? God can read minds so Jesus didn’t even have to speak out loud.   What did He want us to know?

Jesus wanted us to know something very special…that this was a really big sacrifice that He made for us. The pain of having His Father turn His back on Him because He could not look upon the sin that Jesus bore on Himself for us… was very very heartbreaking. He was yelling from the deepest anguish from His heart. For Jesus to yell this way in the condition that He was in… must have meant that this was something very powerful that He wanted us to remember. I’m getting teary eyed just writing this.

I believe Jesus was yelling…”I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!”…to each and every one of us.

John 19:30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

At the end of all His many hours of suffering He spoke His final and very powerful words…”It is finished.” Why do you think He want us to know that? What was the “it” that He was talking about? The “it” was the…putting us right with God! Jesus started His work on earth and this was the day that His work was finished and He wanted us to know this.

Spiritually…because of His extreme Holiness… God had His back to us because of our sin…there was a separation between us and God…but Jesus took our sin on Himself and used His own shed blood…to make it so God can look upon us in a different light…accept us into His family…be our friend and be our God. The original sin was removed from our lives when we repented and believed in His Son.  Jesus turned God’s shoulders around so that He could look upon us and pull us to His bosom and hug us and say…my child! 

All of this was possible because of Jesus and this is why Good Friday is sooooo good.

As you reflect in your own personal way this day…I hope Jesus sacrifice of love will be remembered in your hearts and minds today and…everyday.

Message for today: Good Friday is Great Friday! Thank you so much Jesus!…Thank you so very much!

Jesus motives behind…The Last Supper

Luke 22:15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

There are certain things that Jesus said during His time here on earth that touches me because it reveals His personality and His heart and this is one of those things. He was eager to eat the Passover supper with His 12 disciples. This was a very special time that happened a few days before He was to be crucified. The question in my mind is…Why was Jesus so eager to have supper with them all?

Jesus was a Jewish man and celebrated the Passover just like any other Jewish man would have done and He wanted to have this meal with the men who had given up everything to follow Him. This would be the last time that He would be with them on this level because after the crucifixion He would be in a glorified state and their relationship would be a little different.

He was about to suffer as He mentioned in the above scripture and I think He wanted for them put their attention on Him. We don’t know all that went on behind the scenes and all that was said…but I bet Jesus hugged them and spoke encouraging words to them. He loved them and they seemed to have a very tight bond. I believe this was a very special dinner…one that may have been more special than the disciples had known at the time.

Another thought I had on this special meal was that this would be known as…”The Last Supper”. Painters have painted pictures, and people have written books and plays about this spiritually historical event. The most important meaning of this supper was….we…you and I who are Christians are to remember this event and repeat it often in memory of the Sacrificial act of love that Jesus allowed on Himself to save us from eternal damnation and put us right with the one true and Holy God… Yahweh.

At this supper Jesus would reveal His betrayer…He put everything out on the table. It reminds me of a scripture verse from Psalm 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. We have enemies all around us…but when you sit at the Lord’s Table you can expect His presence, love and protection.

Jesus was looking forward to this dinner and in retrospect you can see why. Let’s you and I remember the command that Jesus gave us pertaining to this supper. Let’s remember all that was done for us on Calvary. Let’s remember the Love that God has for us…and that He arranged all of this for us. We are all very special to God. Let’s walk in this love and….remember “The Last Supper”…Often.

Marshmallow Peeps and the Gospel

Well those little cute candy birds have been around for the Easter season from the year after I was born in 1952 and I have consumed a lot of those tasty diabetic induced candies in the past LOL!   There have been many Easter traditions that I’ve shared with my family as a child.   I continued these traditions with my own family until I became a committed Christian and realized the true meaning of Resurrection day.  We still provided our children with Easter candy… but as a table setting decoration and not baskets, Easter egg hunts and toys.

Marshmallow Peeps has nothing to do with the Gospel and I guess this statement is not a surprise to you.  Is it ok to still eat them?  Yup!  Is it ok to have all the other Easter candy and things?   I think so… but maybe after church at your  family gathering and dinner.  I don’t think the Lord  would mind that at all.

Does the Lord mind that you dress up for Easter?  I don’t think so.  Your motives are to honor His Sons sacrifice and look your best for Resurrection Sunday worship at the Lords house.  I believe that it’s not wise to overdo it and just buy new spring attire and not spend hundreds of dollars on clothes and things. (Just my personal thoughts here)

What can be a problem is when the major emphasis is on all the Easter trimmings and little emphasis on the reason for the remembrance of the Sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us for our salvation.  This is a holy time for Christians of remembering this special act of Love.

Our children and our grandchildren should be taught this by us and have this instilled in their heart and minds.  When this is accomplished all the Easter trimmings won’t have that place of importance.

I love the Good Friday service and reflections, the Easter Lilies on Sunday, singing…Christ the Lord has risen today…seeing all my brothers and sisters in Christ all filled with the awe and wonder at our Easter morning service.  This is my family’s tradition since 1984.  It’s a tradition that keeps me in a good place in my heart and spirit.  The tradition continues that day with a family dinner and thanking God that we can all be together.

There is one more tradition that I do…and that is…to try and remember Jesus Sacrifice not only Easter week…but every single day.

Message for today: Go ahead and eat a marshmallow Peep….But remember that old saying…JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON….that goes for Easter too!

Remember those great family Easters? Did we ever wear those hats and carry the little handbags any other time other than Easter? Every kid on my block had them!

Grieving the Holy Spirit

I never want to grieve the Holy Spirit


Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Grieve means to feel sorrow or grief. It’s being overwhelmed with sadness or anguish about a situation that’s happened whether it happens personally or publicly. Grieve also means to lament or feel the loss of something or someone.  When you read the scripture above and know that we can grieve the Holy Spirit of God…that grieves me…because the last thing I ever want to do is to grieve the Spirit of God.  Many people ask this question…how does one grieve the Holy Spirit? Well I can tell you it can be done because the bible says so…and I have done it.


There’s so much that the Holy Spirit does for us. This is a very intimate relationship because the Holy Spirit dwells in us Christians and this means He is very very close to us. Because He is so personally involved with us… it would be very insulting to disobey Him or do the opposite of what He’s advising us to do. The word grieve is a word the bible uses to describe the feeling that the Holy Spirit experiences when we disobey biblical commands and spirit lead leadings.
I don’t want to list out all the things that can grieve the Holy Spirit because it would be a very long list…but when you do a bible study on the Holy Spirit…you will find out how much influence He has in our lives and you’ll know what grieves Him. I’ll give you an example later.

You can also know what grieves Him because when He does guide you and you don’t listen to Him…things will happen around you and things will affect you negatively. You can also know you grieve the Holy Spirit because you’ll feel sick or sad in your heart and you too will grieve because of your own disobedience.
The Lord taught me a lesson that I will NEVER forget. When I first became a committed Christian in 1984 I was asked by my pastor to sing at a prayer breakfast in church. I agreed to it. I‘d never sung in church before and was upset about having to sing. I told many people my displeasure about singing at this breakfast.

I have learned to always do things for the Lord with a willing heart.

The day before the breakfast I got stricken with the most violent stomach cramps and you can guess the rest of the bathroom drama. While I was in the bathroom and feeling so sick… I said out loud…oh God!….Why all this pain?…Help me! The lord spoke to me and said…If He ever ask me to do anything for Him and I agree to do it…don’t complain. He said it would be better not to agree to it than to do it with a negative heart and spirit. I know I grieved the Holy Spirit. I’m very thankful to this day for the correction, patience and forgiveness from the Lord.

We must think about the Holy Spirits effect in our lives. He is a person and living being…the third person of the Godhead. It’s God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit and they are uniquely intertwined in our lives. God loves us so much and has given us so much of Himself. He gave us His Son and He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit. We have the wonderful fullness of God. Let’s be conscious of the divine purpose of the Holy spirit of God in our lives…Lets consider the daily things we do and think before we act or speak.

Message for today: Let’s not grieve our wonderful comforter and counselor. Grieve not the Holy Spirit. Accept His gentle leadings.

Lord...Help me to never disappoint you

The Holy Spirit revives me

Psalms 85:6 Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

The Holy Spirit is there to guide me into doing the right thing. When I don’t do the right things and I sin…He points this out to me. I want Him to because I want to be right with God. I ask God to forgive me in Jesus name and Jesus washes me clean.

Because of the Holy Spirit’s work in my heart…I experience revival in my spirit. In fact I have lots of revivals. I don’t always stay this way…but I seek to be right with my God. I have my revivals right in my own home… in my room. My husband has come home from work many times and has seen me so caught up in the spirit. In my prayer times… I ask the Lord to forgive me and I begin to worship Him. You see… the Holy Spirit in me helps me to see my wrongs. After I repent…I feel this freedom and love from the Lord and in my interaction with Him… He manifests Himself in my life and I feel a revival in my spirit. As The Holy Spirit fills me to overflow… I feel the presence of God in a supernatural way. I good-cry a lot during these times…sometimes speak in tongues…sometimes I can say no words and just enjoy their presence…sometimes I receive visions and or messages.

My soul is so revived after these times. I always want to have these times in church…but I can’t do this by myself in church. I’ve had a few times when it has happen to me and I just go into the fellowship hall and have a brief timeout and calm myself down and go back into the service. There have been times in my past when the congregation has gotten very close to a group revival.

I’ve only had one experience of a revival like I have by myself in a group and that was at a meeting that another woman and I had with the girls in our choir because a few of them had gotten caught up in the Spirit at our church service a few night before.  We wanted to explain to them what had happened that night…but our group of girls, me and the other woman got filled up all over again for hours. We were praying, crying, singing, and praising God…some just laid on the floor. It was so incredible!!! It was like being in a womb…feeling safe and secure. Nobody wanted to stop or leave.

Lets all join together and pray for revival. It starts with ourselves first!

Revival is not a scheduled meeting but an unexpected visitation from God resulting from an earnest desire to seek His face and be in His presence. God will ALWAYS show up this way when we earnestly seek Him with a clean heart.

Message for today: Revival starts with you and it can happen to a group of people and spread. Let’s all pray for the Holy Spirit to move in people’s heart, mind and spirit. Let pray for truth…let’s pray for revived lives. Wake up…Wake up and be revived. Can the church say…Amen?

The Holy Spirit is my life coach

Listen to your coach and you can endure in your trial

Ephesians 3:16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

I feel like the Holy Spirit is like a labor coach to me. I have been on both sides of labor…as a patient and as a coach. Labor is a time of extreme pain…pain with a great purpose…to have a baby. It’s a very difficult time for most women going through the natural labor process. When you have a labor coach….it doesn’t make the pain less…but it gives you support in your suffering and guidance in how to get through it.

I feel this is what the Holy Spirit does for me. At those times that I have to endure suffering…. He is there to coach me in how to get through my situation. Instead of saying push…He says endure and reassure’s me that I can indeed make it. He strengthens me and can even pray for me when I don’t even know what to pray.

Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

Message for today: The Holy Spirit is my helper….He coaches me all day and night every day. How can I fail with this very powerful being living inside of me… directing me and guiding me? My job is to listen and take my coach’s advice and obey God’s commands to me.

What my fellowship with the Holy Spirit has done for me

We are connected to the Holy Spirit because Jesus promised to send another comforter and He came. When we repented of our sins and believed in Jesus...the Holy Spirit came inside of us and will be there for all of our earthly life. We ARE connected to the third person of the trinity. The connection is complete and I want to take in every benefit of this awesome indwelling.

2 Corinthians 13:14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

This whole week I’ve been blogging about the Holy Spirit.  I can’t stop thinking about Him. I’m so awed by whom He is and all that He does for me.  I reflected back on all the interaction I’ve had with Him.  My first big shocking interaction was when my husband spoke in tongues and then I did.  It was so shocking and so exciting.  I knew speaking in tongues was real because the language was so beautiful and I know I could not have made that up on my own.

The experience went through every part of my body.  I was so excited that all I wanted to do was pray to God.  The Holy Spirit also manifested Himself to me in other ways.  We truly have a very close relationship.  It wasn’t that He was only in me… but through me and all over me.

The Holy Spirit not only reveals Himself to me in prayer…but at so many other times…like when I found out I had cancer and when my children were in the intensive care.  His counsel to me has been incredible.  He advises me every day about something.  I have felt His arms around me when I needed comfort.

 In my singing ministry…I walk up to the microphone to sing and sometimes I’m not feeling up to par…I start singing and halfway through the song I feel the Holy Spirit fill me and I know then that the music has gone to another level.  I feel like we are singing and not just me.  I feel the congregation feels His presence too.  Sometimes I get so nervous before I have to sing and I ask Him if He’s with me and He makes me know in some unique way that He‘s with me.  Sometimes I can feel Him escort me up to sing and other times like I said…He manifests Himself while I sing.

My point in continuing to talk about the third person in the trinity is to show how much He does for us and how much we need to be aware of His presence in our everyday lives.

The Holy Spirit has even showed me a vision of Himself when I first committed myself to the Lord.  I will share this in my book when it’s published. I love Him so much.  He will always be with me and will be there the day I die which is so comforting to me.  I am always in the presence of my God.

Message for todayThe Holy Spirit is amazing. Get your consciousness to connect with Him in your spirit.  Know what the bible says about Him and then make every effort to commit yourself to becoming more aware of His constant presence in your life.

Be filled with the Spirit!!
