A prayer for New Years

Oh how I thank you for bringing me through another year of my life. Lord there has been some scary moments and some really happy ones too. One of those great moments is playing with my only Grandchild 2 year old Olivia. What a gift from you…thank you!

Lord…I thank you so much that I’m your child because you were so there for me this year. As I concentrated on keeping my mind on you…you gave me so much peace and I can’t forget about all the grace…wow! Everyday mercy was there to greet me in the morning. Your faithfulness was overwhelming to me. I never would have made it…without you!

Lord the greatest lesson I have learned this year is…..to keep my mind on you. When I started writing this blog in May 2011…I didn’t know that talking with you so much and having to dig into your word would have such an effect on me. I’m more focused, less stressed and even when troubles came my way it was easier to just cast my burdens on you and trust that you would be there for me and you were.

Lord this year you called for my mom to take up residence in your home. You’ve given me and my family so much comfort. We have so much peace knowing that she’s with you.

Father God…I saw so many miracles this year that you have done in my life and in the lives of others. I have shared your miracles publicly because I want you to get all the glory. I want others to see that you indeed take care of your children.

I’m so glad that you are not a far away God…that you are a ….right here God. You are here with me and I feel your presence. That presence was here for the whole 365 days of this year. You did not miss a single day, minute or a second of my life. I was totally covered. Remember that near miss from a serious car accident and I yelled out “JESUS!”…yeah…that was a close one…but those angels Lord…they were on the job. Thank you!

How could I ever live my life without you? I need you! I’m soooo glad that you will NEVER leave me or forsake me! I think about that all the time.

God… this is the last day of the year and I just want to express all my thanks to you for bringing me through another year. Thank you for being so faithful to me. You said you would and you did. With the big lesson I learned this year… to keep my eyes on you..to abide in you…to be in constant communication with you…I’m going to keep this up and improve on it.   I’m going to stick to you like glue….me and you…you and me.

My big request are these three things for myself:

1. I’m asking you for wisdom.
2. Also for Boldness to witness even more
3. And to be more merciful, giving and loving like Jesus

My 3 big requests for others:

1. I pray for all the missionaries and persecuted Christians
2. For people to know and love Jesus
3. I pray for families and especially the children

There is so much more to pray about Lord…but you know I’ll be talking to you about it throughout the year.
So God… as the curtain is falling on this year…again…thank you for all you’ve done for me and I am going to put my trust in you ….in fact…I’m going to cast everything over to you right now.

From your daughter,

Tanya

I ask all these prayer request in the name of your precious Son who without Him my eternal life would not be possible….Jesus!

3 Things every Christian should know

Three things you should know about yourself

3 Things every Christian should know

1. I should know who I am
2. I should know whose I am
3. I should know where I’m going

1.) I am 59 years old and I know who I am. My name is Tanya Nemley and I am the wife of an ordained minister and the mother of 6 wonderful adult children and a grandmother to one precious granddaughter. I am a soloist in my church and I have an active prayer ministry. I am gifted to do many crafts and I love to cook and bake. I am a passionate barbecuer. I am a born again Christian. I am an encourager. I am a chronic illness survivor and a breast cancer survivor. I am a blogger. I am happy and I am blessed by God. I know who I am!

Who...Whose...Where

Psalms 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.

2.) I am a child of God. God became my Father in 1965 and became number one in my life in 1984 when I became committed to Him. I am adopted into His Holy Family. I am Jesus sister. I am filled with the Holy Spirit. I am in the book of life. I am sanctified. I know whose I am!

3.) I know I am going to have an abundant life here on earth. I know I am going to be the salt of the earth. I know I’m going to endure all the trials that come my way. I know I’m going to spread the gospel. I know Jesus has prepared a place for me to go to after my mortal body ceases to exist. I know I’m going to live eternally with God in heaven. I know I’m going to have a glorified body that no longer will I be susceptible to pain and suffering. I know I’m going to be OK…because….I am so blessed! I know where I’m going!

Knowing these 3 things enables me to have daily hope and peace. I feel happy, peaceful, protected, secure, loved, nurtured, joyful……I feel like singing…..I feel like praising and worshipping the Lord…..I feel like getting on my face before the Lord and humbling myself before His Holiness….I feel like saying….Thank you Lord for the hope that I have and all you’ve done for me Lord.

Hey...Check this out. It's got great news for you!

If you are reading this blog and you don’t know these 3 things about yourself….then I must tell you some good news…You can find all these things out in a very old book that was prepared for you by the creator. God has prepared everything you will ever need to know for knowing these 3 things and more. It will guide you and give you a new life. You will feel so freed up. Many people have poo pooed this book saying it’s not true or they have changed some of the stuff in it….but I want to tell you to read the book exactly like it is written and hide the words in your heart. Your life will never be the same. It is the living book of God and He speaks to us and guides us through every page in it. And after all these thousands of years…this book is still a best seller. The bible is #1 and will always be so.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

To all those who already know the 3 things…..Child…you betta kno’ you blessed. Ya’ll go ahead with ya’ blessed selves and bless someone else so they can no bout’ Jesus!!!   See that’s the way my great Grand Ma would have said it!

Message for today: There are some things you just have to know about yourself….Do ya’?

I know who I am

A delayed reaction to my salvation

I'm understanding more and more Lord...what you did for me.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I became a born again Christian in 1965 while watching Billy Graham on TV and a committed Christian in 1984. At the age of 13 years old I didn’t fully understand what happen to me except I knew I wanted Jesus to be in my life and I was very sorry for my sins. I fully believed in the Lord but did not commit all my ways to Him.

Then in 1984 when I committed myself fully to the Lord and put God first in my life I was totally sold out for Him and full of zeal. I shared my faith like crazy and everybody around me knew that I was surrendered to Christ.
In the past few years and even more so this year I have more of an understanding about the sacrifice Jesus made for me so that I can be put right with God. It all boils down to…..UNDERSTANDING WHO GOD IS and HOW MUCH HE LOVES ME.

I thought I understood about God coming down to earth in the form of a man…that Immanuel…God with us happened because of God’s deep love for the humans He created and He wants us all for Himself…so He made a way for us to be adopted into His family and live with Him forever. God Himself saved us for Himself and He loves us to pieces!

I’ve had a delayed reaction to my salvation. I get it….I get Him…God. No….I don’t understand everything about Him….No human can….but I’m getting to know more about Him every day. I believe you have to get to know Him without attaching our present troubles to Him. By this I mean… just love Him because He is God without always asking for things or thinking about all you’re going through. Love Him because He is God your Father. Love Him because of who He is. God is God…God is love….God is the creator….God is very powerful….God is perfect….God is incredibly unbelievably wise…..God is supernatural….God is extremely Holy….God is everything so much so that nothing comes after this sentence -“there are no words to describe His existence, Holiness or power”!! All you can do is ponder about His existence…and then nothing….there’s nothing else to describe or understand about Him. He is the alpha and the Omega…That’s it! Ponder this…meditate on this… and you will begin to realize who we are dealing with and this makes me tremble! It makes me feel secure…because this powerful being IS MY FATHER!

My salvation is important to me...It's your love for me...thank you!

There are just no human words that can express the awesomeness of His nature. When I ponder these things I get a delayed reaction to my salvation… which is that God planned for us and He Himself planned this elaborate act of love to make us His child and it was a plan that took His only son to come to earth and go through the whole death and resurrection experience for my eternal soul. This makes me cry good tears.

How can mankind think with our bad little selves…that we deserve to go to heaven with this powerful eternal Holy being without a price being paid? We owe God everything for this….but we did not pay a price. How can we jump up in Gods face and demand He give us eternal life? Who do we think we are? Did we create ourselves? If you believe we came from evolution …that could not have produced a soul. Evolved things don’t have a soul. Only God can produce a soul! Only God through His son Jesus can save a soul. We should be on our knees and bowing down thanking God for all He has done for us and praising Him for His holiness and I know I do and so many other do.

I’m never satisfied with my relationship with the Lord. I want to love Him more….I want to know Him more. It’s a continual hunger that I have for Him. One day all my love for God and all my praise and worship of God will be perfect. Right now I’m so thankful for Jesus and the Holy Spirit who is ever-present with me helping me be the best child of God I can be in my life… until the Father calls me home.

Every day I feel spiritual growth and sometimes I have setbacks. Even in my weakness… the Lord restores my soul. I feel blessed…I am blessed. I’m truly thankful for my salvation.

Message for today: Knowing God leads to a better understanding of our salvation…and that produces a very grateful heart. Thank you Jesus…I love you so!

You paid the price because you LOVE me!

God does indeed have a plan

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Question– Why would God create Lucifer who He knew would turn out bad and would tempt Adam and Eve to sin… that exposed all of creation to original sin and separation from God?

My answer-A.) Because… God knew it had to be done because of His Holiness and His nature and also for unknown reasons that we can’t understand now.

B.) A very important part to this answer is that …”He knew He was going to come down and Himself and make a way for us to be put right with Him”. He provided a fix for the problem…He made a way of escape…He made a way for us to be sanctified. We were rescued…we can be saved. Jesus paid the price  for my life and yours.

God had a plan for the creations he made! He didn’t do this whole human thing and then go….whoops!  He’s God…He doesn’t make mistakes. He knows what He’s doing….we don’t…..we don’t understand Him or His peculiar ways at all.  All we need to know is …that God knows what He needs to do for mankind and He knows what His born again children need also.

Psalms 33:11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

There is a song that’s so fitting…..”He’s got the whole world in His hands”. Yes He does!

God is not confused…He is not bipolar….He’s not forgetful….He’s not on vacation….He’s not out of money….kryptonite hasn’t stripped Him of His power…the devil doesn’t have Him hoodwinked….there is nothing wrong with God!!! He has plans…perfect plans.

Are we going to trust our incredible God or not? Are we going to be struck with fear every time something negative happens? Today on the news… there has been nothing but heartbreaking things that have happened. God said these kinds of things would happen. These unfortuate events didn’t surprise Him.  He gave us help….a living and Holy book…the bible which is His words to us and His Holy Spirit and to help us during these difficult times. He told us to cast everything that distresses us on Him. He said He would never leave us. Are we going to believe what He has said to us? Will we truly trust Him?

We know some things about our wonderful Father but we don’t and can’t understand all His plans for us. So what do we do? Love Him… because of WHO He is and TRUST Him because of who HE is. Love and trust Him. Hold on to His leg and cry if you need to but don’t let go! Our Abba Father loves us! Donnie McClurkin sings a song called stand and it goes like this:

What do you do
when you’ve done all you can
And it seems like it’s never enough?
And what do you say
when your friends turn away,
you’re all alone?
Tell me, what do you give
When you’ve given your all,
and seems like
you can’t make it through?

Stand and be sure
Be not entangled in that bondage again
You just stand, and be sure.
God has a purpose.
Yes, God has a plan.

We don’t have to worry about the sin that came into the world. What mankind needs to worry about is… are you part of God plan to make you part of His Family? This Christmas we celebrated the birthday of His perfect plan called Immanuel….God with us. His name is Jesus Christ. God came to earth in the form of a man to put us right with Him. All we have to do is repent of our sins and believe and accept His Son Jesus Christ and then live the rest of our earthly life that is pleasing to God. Why did He go through all this trouble???? Why did Jesus pay such a price? BECAUSE God LOVES US…IT’S ALL ABOUT LOVE!!

Message for today: God had a plan….He became a man….The Man became a Lamb…So I wouldn’t forever be banned…. from that distant land….By faith I took a stand…I know heaven will be grand…..Do you understand….that you have to know that man….Jesus?

Mathew 6:19-21

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Mathew 6:33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Luke 20:11,12

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Today many Christians are celebrating the good news of the birth of Jesus Christ…God’s only son who came to earth to save us from our original sin… a permanent from separation from God. His birth made it possible for us to have eternal life in heaven with God and also for us to be able to have Gods Holy Spirit inside of us and for us to have an abundant life while we are here on earth.

This day…Christmas…is a wonderful reminder about the miracle of Christmas…the celebration of Jesus birth….but this is not the exact day He was born.

Why didn’t God let us know the exact day? We will never know the answer to this question until we get to heaven but this is just my thoughts:

I believe God wants us to take in the entire events of Jesus time on earth with the main focus on the thing He reminded us to do which is to take communion often in remembrance of the sacrifice He made for us. It’s good to tell the Christmas story and I’m so glad we do and I believe it’s a very important celebration….it marks the day that God came to earth….Immanuel!

To me…it’s important when thinking about Christmas…to take in the whole reason as to why God did this….to ponder His whole purpose for coming to earth. God came to earth, grew up into a man, did amazing miracles, allowed Himself to be brutally tortured and killed and returned to heaven and now awaits for the fruit of His labor…which is us who have repented of ours sins and accepted His Son Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It is the whole picture of the birth of Jesus that we should ponder.

Christmas means something!! It was the beginning of a promise made to man. A promise that was kept. Christmas is a gift…the most special, expensive, costly gift anyone could EVER give anybody….A promise of a baby to be born who is God who actually walked this earth….God was here for 33 years…He was with us. God truly cares for us!! Can you imagine that the God of the universe…the creator of all…this powerful, Holy being would actually come down here just to save us? Don’t you feel special? Don’t you feel so blessed? Don’t you feel so good as we celebrate the birth of the promise fulfilled? Do you get the whole picture?  I do……..

Oh my God…Oh my God…what you have done for me!! Oh my God….my Lord….my Master!!

Oh my God…How you must love us!! Oh God…when I think about this love you have for your creations and how you’ve done everything in your Holy power to make sure we would be with you forever…I melt under the power of that love. Will we never understand how much you love us in these mortal bodies. The depth of your love for mankind is unfathomable. Oh how much you love us!

Christmas is the expression of your love. Thank you Lord for Immanuel. Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests! His favor rest on everyone who reads this blog. Do you know you are highly favored? Merry Christmas! May the peace of God be with you all!

Message for today: Ponder the whole time of Jesus 33 years on earth…that started with His birth. No matter what day it actually happened…we can surely say…CHRIST… THE KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS… WAS BORN ON A GLORIOUS DAY and we celebrate that day on December 25th…..”HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!!!!! We love you!”

Did Jesus have sibling rivalry?

Jesus and His brothers and sisters

Mathew 13:55-56 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56 Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?”

Jesus had brothers and sisters….and not brothers and sisters in the Lord….Well then again…maybe they were. These were His REAL brothers and sister from Mary and Joseph… whom I guess Joseph was Jesus step father. Now I’m confusing myself LOL!
If I was Jesus sibling I probably would be talking behind His back. It would sound like this:

Man…Jesus gets all the praise all the time. Everybody in the whole neighborhood is always bragging about Him. He is so smart and knows all this stuff about God… who they say is His real Father. How did God get to be His Father and not ours? I mean our papa Joe is really good to us. We should be glad our last name is not Jackson. (Wink Wink)

Jesus barely gets into any trouble. Remember when He went to the temple to preach and they were looking for Him everywhere? Boy…If that was me they would have torn my butt up!

He never has to do His chores either because He’s always hanging out with the crowd. I heard He’s been hanging out with this gang called “the disciples”. They go everywhere…people’s houses…the mountians…fishing…hey this is not fair!!  I know He has supernatural powers and has all this stuff to do for His dad…but what about us?

He turned water into wine so how come He doesn’t turn these rocks into some cash so we don’t have to work like dogs. You say what? He has a purpose? His Father wants Him to do WHAT??????? You’re kidding me…..tortured, beaten and killed? He has to take on the sins of the whole world and have His Father turn His back on Him for a time while He does this? Oh… no way man! Ya’ know…Being Josephs son really isn’t so bad after all!

Jesus brothers and sisters really weren’t like I would have been. At first they were not believers but then they believed in Him and joined in many of the things Jesus did. They were a close family and they even were there together with their mom Mary praying in the book of Acts.

Praying together

Acts 1:14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

Message for today: Love one another…even your brother! (Or sister)

My Family Christmas Tradition

Matthew 2:11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

When my children were little we told them that Jesus provided for us and that’s where their Christmas gifts came from. We let them open their gifts on Christmas morning and it was always so much fun. But when our children were in their teens we started a new family tradition. Instead of opening the gifts on Christmas morning…we opened them on Christmas Eve so that Christmas day would be about Jesus birthday celebration.
We would all gather around the tree and their father would give a mini sermon (he is a minister) on Christmas…then we would pray and then present each other with gifts, laugh and have such a great time.

Christmas day was all about celebrating Jesus birthday with a big dinner and a birthday cake. We sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and thanked God for sending His son. Now that my 6 children are grown…I have to say I miss that family tradition…but oh the memories!

I know the Magi brought gifts to Jesus and I don’t know how the gift giving on Christmas got started…but I do enjoy it and I do keep the whole Christmas celebration in moderation. I also always keep the reason for the season before me and my family.
Last Sunday I sang a solo in church and these are the words to the song:

Happy Birthday Jesus

Happy Birthday Jesus
I’m So Glad Its Christmas
all The Tinsel and Lights
and The Presents Are Nice
but The Real Gift Is You.

Happy Birthday Jesus
I’m So Glad Its Christmas
all The Carols And Bells
make The Holiday Swell
and it’s All About You
happy Birthday Jesus
Jesus I Love You!

The cutest girl singing this song:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=claKP84h9EE

Message for today: Giving gifts is a good thing…Celebrating Jesus birth is a better thing. The old saying that Jesus is the reason for the season will always be my Christmas motto…what about you?

Jesus is the reason for the season

Ponder your life so you don’t wander in your life

Mary did ponder

Luke 2:19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Mary Jesus mother had gone through a lot in her young life. She had a visitation from an angel of the Lord, God impregnated her with a child by the Holy Spirit, she had to deal with this secret, her future husband and her family. Then she had to travel while 9 months pregnant and find a place to give birth.

Then she was visited by some shepherds that she didn’t even know who told her that her Son was the Savior. After all of this… Mary pondered or gave careful thought of these things. Why did God put this in the bible at all and in this spot? Why didn’t she ponder things after the angel first appeared to her? Surely that was enough to make her ponder…I know I would have been pondering and wandering around in a daze LOL! I’m gonna have God’s baby? Alrighty then! But no…not Mary, she pondered things after the shepherds paid baby Jesus a visit.  Maybe it was more real to her at that time because other people knew now.

I think God is saying something here….I believe God wants us to think about the things He allows to come into our lives. He wants us to take the things that happen to us and think about them.. the good and the bad. He wants us to appreciate the good and reflect on the bad for the lessons and the victories that can be gleamed from it and use these things to encourage someone else.

I think about what I'm going through and what does God want me to know and how should I react or handle the situation

This to me is very important…to ponder. It takes time to think about things. I like to park by the ocean in my neighborhood and look at the water and think about things. That way when you need to share your story you have it somewhere in your mind and you can pull it out and give a testimony to bring God praise.

Pondering something can also give you a clearer picture on events that have happened to you. It doesn’t mean you will have a perfect understanding of why God has done something in your life, but you can at least put things in perspective so you can see that there’s a place where things started to happen, there’s a middle and prayerfully an end. You can ponder the scriptures that have helped you. You can also ponder the things God may have spoken to you about and done for you in the past.

I don't understand all God...but I see your plan.

This is a good scripture to follow:

Proverbs 4:26 Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established

Consider, think carefully, give much thought to, deliberate, contemplate, weigh it in your mind, appraise the situation, meditate on the facts, and reflect in all aspects of the things God has allow to occur in your life to date.

“I tell you…when I don’t ponder the things in my life I feel I am prone to make mistakes in the future and even some of the same mistakes.”

Message for today: Let’s follow Mary’s good example and Proverbs 4:26….and ponder so we don’t wander far from the path that God has set for us to follow and we will be OK in all that God has planned for our lives. Mary did this and the fruits of her pondering was her devoted obedience to the Lord our God.
