Now you know God dosen't look like this ...right? 🙂

Exodus 5:22-23 Moses returned to the LORD and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me? 23 Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and you have not rescued your people at all.”

Job 7:20-21 If I have sinned, what have I done to you, O watcher of men? Why have you made me your target? Have I become a burden to you? 21 Why do you not pardon my offenses and forgive my sins? For I will soon lie down in the dust; you will search for me, but I will be no more.”

At one point in my Christian walk I remember being told never to question God. I was really afraid to. I thought that what I heard during a violent thunderstorm would happen and the thunderous voice of God would say…”YOU BETTA NOT QUESTION ME TANYA”!!!!! I have since found out that God does NOT do this…In fact He loves that you are talking to Him and seeking His wise counsel for answers. Who else should you go to when you are faced with a difficult situation?

Why?... Can come out of deep anguish of the heart!

In the examples of biblical people questioning God that I have mentioned in the above scriptures…there was something about them that gives us the key to not ticking God off when questioning Him. The key is having an ongoing relationship with God. Asking Him why…when it comes from the cry of your heart means something to Him and He doesn’t take our anguish lightly.

Even if you are not a Christian and you ask God why He will answer you if your motive is that you truly want know why things are happening to you and you’re ready to surrender to His power and authority in your life.

Now if you ask God why and curse Him….then you can expect negative things will surely be in your life.
[Here is a little life gem….don’t tick God off!! Have respect for Him and fear Him. Honor Him for who He is. Always have this in your mind and heart. It will serve you well.]

Getting back to asking God why… I take all the examples about how to live my life from Jesus. He too asked His Father God why.
Mathew 27:46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”)

If God answered Jesus back…we don’t know because the bible doesn’t state that. Jesus did call out for God and He asked Him why was He forsaking Him.   So from His example I believe its okay to question God. Jesus was in deep anguish when He asked God why but that didn’t mean Jesus was acting disrespectfully towards His Father. Why in this instance is the…cry of the heart and that’s what brings humans to the point of crying out. Our heart is in so much pain.

Sometimes we need to know why God is allowing certain things to happen in our lives. Everything that happens to us always has a purpose…but God doesn’t always reveal His purposes to us. So why ask God if He’s not going to always tell you why? I believe it’s to keeps us in touch with God…seeking His face….abiding in Him and it helps us to keep our eyes focused on Him for our support and help.
When we ask God why… He sometimes will answer your questions right away…but I can tell you from my personal experience that He will reveal the answers in days, weeks and even years later. That’s why we must always wait on the Lord. He will answer you in His time. One of my sayings is.…”when I get to heaven I’m gonna buy God a new watch because His is obviously broken!” There are times when you will never get an answer to the question until you get to heaven. 1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

So go ahead…ask God your question but always in an attitude of respect for His power and authority in your life and never ask like you are trying to be slick and trip Him up…like… He’s lied to you about something. God don’t play…as I always say. I love Him and respect Him and even in my deepest distress…I would never disrespect Him in my heart. My mind might go a little crazy and have a little doubt..But my heart is ever trusting in His ability to take care of me. That’s why I know God will never destroy me for questioning Him. Nothing will ever separate me from His love and care.

Never curse God!!!!!!

No matter how upset and questioning I get… this will never be enough for God to let go of me. I have often thought of Job’s wife telling her husband to curse God and die. All that Job went through…Had to make him very upset…but He had enough love and trust for God to know that God had His reasons and purpose. I love what Job said to her….He replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” Job 2:10. Job said it’s foolish. One would have to be a fool to do that because the consequences are not good when you curse God.

Message for today: You can ask God your questions and not have to put your hands over your head in fear that God is going to knock your head off if you question Him. Be patient as you wait for an answer and trust God….trust that He knows what He’s doing in your life.

There are many answers to why God allows suffering. If you are going through difficult suffering right now...ask God why. He will either tell you or help you without saying anything...but I know He will be there to meet your need. It could be a sudden answer or He may just give you mercy, peace, comfort, grace or all of the above. I can promise you that you will get something. You may not always get the why answer the way you want but it will be what you need from God's perspective. Seek Him ask Him and trust Him!
