Psalms 103:19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.
We Christians NEED to know this!!!!
Sovereign means – supremeness, absoluteness, unlimited power, unrestricted rule, total control, boundless possibilities, final and ultimate will, dominate, chief leader, ruler, unconditional, fullness in every capacity, all powerful, supreme and infinite ruler, unlimited power, the power to do everything without accountability to anyone.
Has authority to execute His will over all at any time for any reason, superior over all decision making, is commander and has control over all according to his own mind, knowledge and intelligence, has preeminence and control over the entire universes, the present and infinity.
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Romans 11:33
In other words…..DON’T MESS WITH GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God has the final say so!!!!
Recognize His power and have respect for His superior authority!
Psalms 135:6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.
So….I ‘m doing better now… but for many months I had been very sick since the beginning of 2014. I was in the bed for many days. It was a very hard thing to go through. It was a lonely and painful time. Also during that time the devil tried to discourage me and he waged a great battle against me. I was in a weaken condition so he took that opportunity to try bring me down. It’s a good thing that I had on my spiritual armor, my rhema word (rhema is instruction and comfort we get from the Holy Spirit when we need help… that we learned from reading and studying the Bible) , my prayer life up to date and knowing how to encourage myself in the Lord… going for me. (Hint- it’s how to get through a trial)
1 Chronicles 29:11 Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.
I knew this was a teachable time in my life and sought out the Lord for some answers. The thing that helped me was knowing God’s Sovereignty over my life. I was really comforted by that. I knew there was a reason for my suffering and that God had a purpose. I prayed for God to heal me and knew I would get help. Until help was manifested I put my hope in the Lord. I told my husband that God knows all about this…He’s aware of my situation. I thought about the scriptures I knew and the meanings were hiding right there in my heart. I held on to them and the Holy Spirit gave me strength through them. God is God over every situation in my life. I know that well now. I thought back over all the many times I have been sick before and how He’d brought me through…even through cancer. I was secure in knowing that even if it was my time to die I would be in God’s loving arms and pain free forever. God is in charge over my life. Thank you Jesus!
Isaiah 66:1 This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?
Sunday morning when I was getting ready for church… a song came on called Halleluiah Anyhow by Thomas Whitfield https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASW6Dmo3AyY. God spoke to me through this song and I cried and praised God so…that I could barely make it to church….but I did. The Holy Spirit told me this is what God was teaching me through my last bout of illnesses.
I put myself in God’s hands when I repented of my sins and received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I let go of the steering wheel and let God do the driving!! I’m in God’s hand and He is sovereign ruler and authority over my life. I depend on His grace and mercy for my soul. I feast on of His love for me. I’m awed by His holiness and know that He will ALWAYS do right by me. His holiness and powerfulness makes me feel very small and microscopic which actually makes me feel very secure.
I try to let go of everything in my life and give control to my sovereign Father God. I read a book that told me His story and I look around at this planet, sky, sun and moon that confirms the true story of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I drop down to my knees and fall flat on my stomach in total submission to His divine authority. One day soon I will see His Sovereignty come to life as He will reign and rule over all the universe…over every kingdom. It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'” Romans 14:11

Tanya, I think this is your best post ever. Your definition/description of God’s sovereignty is great. The verse from 1 Chronicles 29 has become a favorite of mine in the last few months, and I make it part of many of my prayers.
God bless you my sister!
